Hey guys I just bought a 1996 xj from my brother in law, it's got 174000 on it and a little fender damage. I have a set of 31x10.5 km2s I wanna for on it for the time being, anyone think I coul fit them with a budget boost lift? Thanks in advance. I'll definitely have pictures tomorrow

Ya I have a garage and plent of tools, I still own a suzuki samurai but it's to much of a pain so I'm going to rob parts off of it for the jeep.

last pic is my 4x4 clubs trip to hollister. Been lurking a few days and found an old member on this sight, his name is tony has a red xj. I think his name is fyrfytr1717, I know I'm stalking, but I was always envious of his xj.

Welcome!

I think I'm going to order this cheap 3" kit from amazon. To fit my 31's for now. Anyone ever heard anything bad or any reason why I should steer away from something like this? Trying to spend less than 200$ at the moment

Having a brain fart on how to use a forum haha been a member of forums for 6+ years, anyways I had a check engine light on the code was p0300, it also has a hard time starting in the morning or after it's been sitting a while.

I wouldn't buy that kit. with a 3 inch spacer you'll need an adjustable trac-bar or one made for that size lift. those add-a-leafs wont net you a 3 inch lift, maybe 1.5?. I recommend finding some used coils for a 2-3 inch lift and adding a block and a shackle if you want to keep it cheap. Members on here have a ton of spare parts so it might not be a bad idea to post a wanted add in our for sale section.

You could run those 31's with what you have now(or a 1 inch spacer/block) if you're not afraid of a little trimming.

And welcome to NAXJA!

That's a lot of help thank you, I'm pretty new to jeeps. I'm used to my zuk up at the top. I'm wondering if I should just wait and get a rustys 4.5" or 6" kit

You might hear some less than great opinions about rustys too.. haha there's plenty of info in the modified section. In my opinion just starting out, stick with a short arm lift, 3.5-4.5'. rubicon express 3.5 is nice. it will get you pretty far and you can run 31's easy or 33's with some trimming. there are a lot of different kits out there, it all depends on how much you wanna spend. rough country is a cheaper brand who's quality has gotten much better in the past couple years. might want to check them out.

main points of lift:

front-
coils
adjustable trac bar
sway bar disconnects
shocks
drop pitman arm
brake lines
lower control arms(you'll want adjustable for bigger than 4 inch lift)

rear-

new spring pack OR
longer shackles with a shackle relocation box plus add a leaf.
or a combo of both.

this is just my experience. Everyone on here has there own way of doing it. My advice is search for lift info and read up. There's a TON of info on here.

I have read anything bigger than a3" I'm going to want a SYE, is that true? I plan on trimming and moving the flares up, not sure how I'm sure there is a thread on it

Its a good idea to have one, but a lot of people don't run one and it works fine. Comes down to what tcase, rear axle, rear lift, and pinion angle you are running. you can run into some vibrations around 3' of lift. moving the flares up would be a PITA and not look that great, in my opinion. if you are worried about keeping stock flares, just add in bumpstops that stop the tire from contacting the fender. There are also a few companies making aftermarket flares that look great. I like the look of a cleanly trimmed stock fender with no flare, myself.

Searched and got my answer, anyways picked this thing up last night.

They are day star pucks, not sure about the add a leaf. Only paid 40bucks for this so I'm pretty pleased. Obviously gonna trim pretty heavy but that's ok.

Got the front on tonight busted one if the sway bar end links so I'll have to get some JKS quick discos. Not sure how I'm going to do the rear yet I would like to do the AAL and see where I'm at and get or make a shackle to make up the difference. On to some exciting pictures

Why rc long arms? If you can afford a sye get one.

Going to just pull the trigger on a RC 4.5 long arm kit, should I get a SYE or not?

YES!! its not a part that you will ever regret buying!!
