Firefox 3.5.4 and 3.5.5 Problems?

The last two upgrades (fixes) from Firefox have caused some screwy issues on NAXJA and other websites.

I lost Smilies, if I clicked on one nothing happened, and if I clicked on "more" the screen would kinda act like it refreshed but I would still be looking at the same display.

Also I couldn't click on a user name and get the drop-down menu for sending PMs.

Last, when I would quote another post in a thread there would be extra coding after the close quote, "<br> <br>" like that.

Anyway, I downloaded Firefox 3.6 Beta 3 and all seems to work again like it should.

IE 7 still worked as always, I just don't like to use it.

Huh. That sounds like a javascript issue - are you running NoScript or anything like it?

No issues with 3.5.5 or 3.5.4 here (and no extensions either.)

I occasionally have the same issue- reboot and it's normally working again. Don't know whether it's NoScript or FF, but at least it isn't completely wiping out my settings once a week, which was a problem until the more recent updates.

No, I am running Web Mail Ad Blocker, but that has been on the computer for a long time.

I haven't added any extensions or plug-ins for many months.

Weird.

Yeah, tried multiple reboots, cleared caches and temp files and then rebooted, nothing helped.

May just be my laptop, Sony Vaio running Win XP Pro.

Just glad it seems back to normal with the FF 3.6 B3. As long as some bug doesn't bite me in arse later.

FRACK IT! Same problems have appeared again!

Sounds like error code ID10T.. I havent had any trouble.. maybe time to do a fresh install on the lappy?

Nice error code! :laugh2:

Actually, looks like Kastein wins the cookie on this one. I uninstalled Java 6 including the Java Quick Start extension I didn't even know it had installed in Firefox and things seem fixed, again.

java is the source of all evil in the world. Well scratch that, Flash and Adobe PDF reader are trying pretty hard too.

<snort> Ah hates Java.</snort>

I can count the times firefox has locked up or crashed due to something other than flash, java, or adobe PDF reader on the fingers of one hand. I'd need the hands of every person in this building to count the lockups or crashes caused by those three pieces of software though.

Java's an OK language... I guess... but the implementation of the JVM available for firefox sucks pretty badly in the stability arena.
