finished LED conversion

Next time you are night driving outside of the glare of urban areas turn down the dash lights. You'll be amazed what you can see versus having the dash lights blaring in your face.

Maybe it's an old guy thing, I dunno. I have a hard time seeing with a welding helmet as well.

Did anyone ever figure out how to change the colour of the lights on the window lift switches?

I never met anybody who used the dash dim function anyway, including myself.

Sure I've tried it just to say "meh I don't like how it looks all dim and chit!"

Dimming the lights is useful when driving long distances on open interstate. less glare, less eye fatigue and better night vision. I never used that function either until i used to commute every weekend 400 miles on I5 through Central California at night.

Dad used to dim the dash lights of his 69 Camaro and then open it up on a secluded country road so Mom couldn't see how fast he was going........I still remember her shouting for him to slow down, as we peered over the back seats, watching the corn fields zipping by in his headlights, half scared and half excited, with adrenaline pumping thru my 10yr old veins............ :)

That's debatable.

my 95 doesn't have lights, but if the 97+ are like my other dodges switches its just a matter of disassembling the switches and changing out the led.

bling bling.

I checked the dash dimming after I installed those LEDs and it still worked at full range. However I checked it again the other day and it was no longer working. The only change I can think of is that I swapped the overhead incandescents, and added a cooler white 74 bulb to the heater.

OK I have been on this lighting kick for a while so I decided to check in on this since its a nice upgrade and I have a couple bulbs out on my instrument cluster.

I ended up ordering them from www.superbrightleds.com for a grand total of 39 bucks shipped.

Here is what I ordered:
5 NEOx LED Instrument bulb 5mm NEO5-x White NEOx-W@ $1.29 each

2 NEOx LED Instrument bulb 4mm NEO4-x White NEOx-W@ $1.29 each

2 4410-x9 LED Festoon bulb Cool White 4410-CW9 2.25@ $4.74 each

4 WLED-x-x LED bulb 90 Degree White WLED-W-x 0.60@ $1.39 each

2 BA15 9-LED bulb White 67-W9 2.00@ $4.99 each

Grand total of $34.05 before shipping

I will add to the thread when i get the bulbs converted over. It will probably be after WF though. I have too many pieces of armor to install! :D

can someone give me a rundown on exactly what I would need to do to convert my 96 interior to led? what bulbs? Also since my dome light lense is yellow would a white led still come out yellw?

Ah the infamous LED interior thread. Every car forum has one.
Here's mine in my younger days. It was all blue LEDs. Notice how my needles don't glow...

Blue doesn't go through red too well. Drove like that for a year like an idiot. Then they started going out, 3 at a time and I had these dark spots and it was just retarded looking. Wised up later on and got LEDs from superbrightleds.com.

The XJ has green lights. I'm assuming the back of the gauge plate has a covering of transparent green paint. The Eclipse had orange. Sand the paint off the rear and paint it whatever color you want as long as it's transparent. The reason for this is because unless you install a set of small LEDs that won't interfere with the other LEDS, your needles won't light up just like the first picture. Same goes for everything else, including the yellow dome light. Get clear or transparent lenses.

Mine turned out kinda blue so I may try to find some white(r) LEDs as well.
