Figuring out How...Camping Options?

OKay kids, Moab is a month away and I'm a big ball of stress. I have a LOT of work to do to the XJ, not much time, and I still haven't figured everything out.

Here's the deal.

My plan is to drive up on Wednesday, October 8, that would put me there either Wednesday night (late) or Thursday morning (depending on whether I can safely drive it in one shift or have to stop to sleep). Does anybody have any suggestions on where I should sleep? I'm planning on just throwing up a tent and roughing it (can't sleep in the XJ, I'm too long and it'll have too many spare parts!).

If anybody has dropped out and there's a spare spot..that'd be cool, or if somebody wants to split a spot that'd be good too. Money is going to be tight, I have a lot of money to spend on the old XJ before Moab!

Sequoia, just get your junk done and show up. If it comes down to it, you can always camp for free on BLM land across the river. I'm sure there will be room on someone's site for you though. It seemed to me that the big grassy area was labeled as overflow camping. I don't see why they wouldn't let you drop your tent there.

Good..didn't know how bad they were there!

I forcast posting on slowing to a crawl as 95% of us are working franticly either trying to work up the money for our junk, or getting it all together! Hmm...maybe I'll try to fix my cruise control too... (See what happens to all my time!)

We normally leave after work and make it to Cedar City. We've slept a couple of times at a rest stop that is just before coming into Cedar City. That puts us into Moab early the next afternoon.

My Dad is so tough (cheap ) that even at 74 he's fine laying out the sleeping bags in a rest stop and grabbing some sleep. Saves a bunch of time, too, as you get back on the road much quicker than staying in a motel.

This year we'll be leaving early Sunday morning and driving it that day.........unless we just can't wait and leave Saturday after work.
