feeler, rear bumper/tire swing, homemade

Skullver

Still Flailing
Location
Ventura,CA
made from 2" x 4" x 3/16" wall rectangular tubing, 1.75" x .120 DOM and some 1.5" x .120" and 1.25" x .120" DOM for supports on the swing part. It uses a trailer spindle I got from A to Z fabrication, clevis mounts go all the way through and welded both sided, spindle is mounted using a 2"x2"x .250" square tube all the way through, welded both sides and plated in to blend it a bit better. It uses the stock 4-mounts in the sheetmetal, and also welded to the stock hitch in 5 places with the same 2" x 2" x .250" square tubing(can fill those voids in with some dimple die plates hehe). It has a de-staco clamp to hold it shut but no secondary safety or anything, may be a good idea. I can include the shackles/d-rings for another $20, tow ball/mount not included.

The last 3 pics in the album were taken today, and the spare is a 35" for reference. I rarely used the actual swing with my spare so spindle has low hours.

Here is the catch, it may be a pita to get off and back on, definitely not impossible but may need a bit of trimming here and there. The best thing would be to come and take it off here one saturday but I may be able to get a buddy to take it off for some beer$$, just too busy right now to monkey with it. I am doing a rear shock hoop/spare mount in the trunk so no need for this bumper.

$200 OBO, basically the cost of the materials.
In Ventura, CA, 93001

Sweet deal Chris.......any word on the glass hood?
Aw shoot tony, forgot to let you know, I ended up keeping it until I can pick-up the ajax hood that is a bit beefier to incorporate a hinge, but when I am able to get that it is all you.

Rick, I hear you on the metal, luckily I did all my shopping a while ago and have a pretty good stock. It is still going for around $3.50/ft for 1.75/.120" DOM here in Ventura, cold roll plate I can't get though, unless I use $online metals$.

Wow, that looks pretty good. How hard would it be to mount on a '96 XJ (older body style)?

so far islanderoffroad got to me within seconds and said he may be interested(confirm yay or nay)

Daedalus454 showed interest, will fit any year as it is not really blended in with any particular panels(yay or nay),

silversilk,

then phreaker.

So let me know which of you guys are interested or not and we can move down the line if necessary.
Thanks guys

Hey Chris, weren't you selling that XJ a few months back? What ever happened with that?
I go through phases, my main concern is getting to racing so that rig is totally on the back burner, aside from collecting high dollar parts(I have some King shocks for it) and thinking about the next phase. I am definitely going to sell it, just a matter of when. I had some lowball offers, and really don't have to sell it, just sucks to drive it back and forth to work, and park it.........my only free day is saturday to work on the car so, I can't see getting to that thing anytime soon, lots more to do on the racer. I need too many other things to have two toys, tow rig...trailer.....etc.
Feel free to come and check it out anytime.
