Nice thread.

I have no idea what this thread's about, but I'm reeaally starting to like punk again.

Now, I'll go back and start at the first post.

Jesus this thread is old. Punk is the best, especially the older stuff. Much of the newer stuff isn’t quite as good; with exceptions of the early distillers, antiflag, Lars Frederickson and the bastards etc. psychobilly is tight too. It seems universal to me that eventually as a band gets older it loses some of what made it great in the first place, rancid is a prime example. I also like anything that parallels my life, so lots of the local rap that is about drugs and violence I listen too to. And anything that complements an altered state or mind, like sublime.

oh and showtunes. Just can’t get enough of "how do you solve a problem like maria"

Fusion Jazz among other things. There's really nothing I don't like except certain marketing techniques.

Frank Zappa - Do yourself a favour, listen to his entire catalogue...

classic rock, real punk (not pop punk) and ska
oh yeah. but what do you consider pop punk? if you like a punk band and they get famous do they become pop and you dont like them anymore? although there is nothign quite like the sound of not being the best with barely adequet equipment. throw in some oldies and call it good.

i consider pop punk whiny boy bands like fall out boy and my chemical romance that some how got catarogized as punk by somebody. and i used to be a greenday fan until they changed there style, sound just to become popular

Can't pick one by itself, it sorta depends on my mood. But old rock (and I mean mostly '70s) would have to be my favorite. The new so-called country would have to be my least favorite. Real country (including bluegrass) is up there though.

And I have to hold my nose when some of my favorites start getting political. TG there was only one or two Dixie Chicks songs I liked so I just marked them off entirely.
