did you try the other stuff I suggested on the bottom of page 1? Also, even though the computer controls the timing, what is it set at (have you put a timing light to it)?

I did drive it 20 mins before hand and it idled in the parking lot for another 20 mins before they got to it. As far as the timing I am not sure how to tell with out a computer. It has the distributorless ignition so am not sure how to check.

it sounds like you're either running a bit too lean, you've got bad combustion chamber deposits, cat is getting "tired"-or some combination of those.
what are the rest of the numbers, and have you plugged the test results into a lamba calculator to see how the fuel control is?

I typed them into the Lambda Calculator and it said
Lambda = 1.01 Perfect Cat operation
Air fuel ratio 14.85

I replaced the computer a few months ago with a computer out of another jeep. Is it possible the timing is off and that is causing this problem.

Ryan, I do appreciate all of the advise. I have been looking and I haven't found a way for me to check the timing myself so I an going to take to a mechanic this week to find out if the timing is correct. Unless you know a way to do it from home.

Have you looked for a leak in the intake or exhaust? My old ford didn't pass this year so i started looking at stuff, i hate to spend money on things. I used Sea Foam an found i had a exhaust manifold with a crack in it.I couldn't hear it but it showed up with me running that stuff though it. Maybe try that. I haven't read any thing after i ask about indio.Sorry if you have already done this and i was to lazy to read up

I have this exact cat on my xj right now and passed smog twice with it.

That cat for the pre 00. The 2000 and 2001 have the cats built into the down pipe . Cheapest CA legal one I found was Amazon in the 6000 rage.
