exhaust issues

the exhaust manifold from the block to the tail pipe is very rusted out, from the previous owner who lived in Michigan and I want to put a header in and flowmaster muffler and sug. on header and or whole system? thanks Oh and I think I need a new cat. con. too. how much are those?? :helpme:
