Ummm....yeah, what Satan said. Per my Haynes manual, you can use an analog meter the same way to pull "codes" from the ABS system. The code sequence will produce a series of long and short needle sweeps, the long sweep denoting the first digit of the code (1, 2, 5, or 6) followed by short sweeps for the second digit. The code table from the manual is:
11 = RF brake anti-lock sensor or RF brake signal rotor
12 = LF brake anti-lock sensor or RF brake signal rotor
13 = LR brake anti-lock sensor or RF brake signal rotor
14 = RR brake anti-lock sensor or RF brake signal rotor
15 = front and rear brake antil-lock sensors
22 = solenoid valve
51 = anti-lock relay
53 = anti-lock actuator motor or anti-lock relay
61 = anti-lock brake control module
Of course, the Haynes manual also says that the ABS system was introduced on the Escort in 1994, so take this info for what you think it's worth

I am running a '94 non-ABS now, only because my MJ isn't back on the road yet. I hate it, but it does get 30+MPG. It will be going into the garage in less than 2 weeks once I get the MJ done......
