EnviroTest is at it again.....

So uh... what can they do to you if you don't pass and don't fix it?

Well if you have ever looked at the back of the emissions sheet you will see you have to spend over a certain amount IIRC its like 400 dollars?:dunno:

Would that make the vehicle emissions exempt for the remainder of its life? Or just until next emissions test?

I think the emissions test is a bunch of crap...

Its probably neither... they probably make you pay the fine AND fix the problem and get another test.
But I'd certainly be willing to spend $400 to never have to e-test the heep again.

Nope, there's more fine print to that. I read through all of it a while back - IIRC, you only get one waiver and it's after $500 in repairs. If it doesn't pass the next registration year, I believe they flag the vin and the only way you can get it registered is if it passes. Otherwise, I guess they expect you'll take it off the road one way or another (scrap or part out)......... Or register it outside the emissions required areas.

I read it once but i totally forgot how it went. I don't even remember how long ago that was. (it was with my white 2 door) I had to read it as My first jeep didn't pass. I got a little bit of work done to it I.E. B.G.44 And it passed. I still didn't know what the problem was.
Man was that a pain in the butt.

Dunno - but I did find a way around the dyno testing (since I don't trust these Mouth Breathers with my clutch - and they're certainly not going to be around when it needs replacing because of them...)

Since no shop seems to have a four-wheel chassis dyno, I simply tell them I've converted it to AWD. I've long since removed the ID tag on the transfer case (just in case I get someone who is halfway intelligent and knows that an NP231 is selectable,) and I usually have a model number in mind if they ask me what I did swap in.

Bam! Idle and sniffer test! (Dealing with the whole "Test Only" stupidity is another matter. As far as I'm concerned, all stations are "Test Only" - I wouldn't trust them to work on my vehicles. Hell, I wouldn't trust them to change the spark plug in my lawnmower!)

You can also get around the tests (at least in Texas) by installing an old diesel engine, like mine.:loveu:

And this is why I love living in Weld county :)

When I moved to CO I was living in Boulder county. Registering my 04 SRT-4 I had to have it emissioned. They got a big "wtf?" when they hooked it up to the dyno. I'm used to AZ where only 96 and older had to use dyno.

Glad I don't have to deal with that crap any more, as long as I stay in Weld.

That would make things worse, here on Larimer county we have no gas emissions, yet we still have the same opacity test that the denver area has.

Had to get my Liberty diesel emissions tested last month. Had to plug back in my FCV and MAF to get the check engine lights off(you unplug them to disable the EGR and get better mileage).

I go in for the emissions testing, 0% opacity at all testing speeds. Ya, what a worthwhile test.

I would try another test place. One that is less busy. Maybe it's not a general rule change, just some $8 per hour dudes that think they run the program.

dont mean to hijack you're thread here yella, but i just saw JohnJohns signature thing and cracked up. I had no idea it sounded that "kinky".

haha that made a bad day a whole lot better.

Is there no exemption, grandfather clause, for older diesels there? Surely there is.
