So, with 240,xxx miles on the clock, the rear main seal long gone, and various electrical gremlins playing games under the hood, I'm planning to yank my non HO 4.0L for some freshening up. My XJ is a '90 so its a RENIX. I'm planning to bore and stroke it, run a mopar purple cam, roller lifters (maybe the yella terra rockers but the $$$ doesn't seem to be worth the price) banks header, 22# injectors. this will be a non DD trail rig so my goal is mostly geared for low RPM, low range torque. would like to get some input from some of you senior guys on things that worked for you while i'm still in the planning stages. additionally, wanting to run a multi spark system (MSD 6AL). If any of these are glaring conflicts please feel free to chime in. thanks :gee:

Yeah, I see some conflicts already.

Mopar cam with roller rockers?

Roller rockers with a low rpm torque motor?

Stroker and 22 lb injectors?

Since I've had two strokers, my advice is to just build the motor for power. These motors have all kinds of low end torque, and it will have tons of low end regardless of how you build it.......so don't build for low end. If you're going to use roller rockers, then build it for high rpm and put in a very good cam. 22 lb injectors won't be enough, you'll need at least 24 lb depending on the build. No need to waste money on the aftermarket ignition system, the stock system works pretty well and puts out a very powerful spark already.

Oh, and I'm moving this to the performance forum. :)
