EMP vs XJ

Down in NJ on Rt 21 between newark and seacaucus is an a EMP test ring, about 40ft diameter, bigger than the stargate, they test military and emergency services vehicles there. It is only about 200 feet of the hiway so I guess it has limited range :D :D :D

Just remove some of the tin foil from your head and wrap the engine electronics in it. That should do the trick. :)

My escape plan includes an incredibly reliable rig based on a carburator and points. :)

Similar to mine.

I have a much the same vehcile but my plan mostly has to do with lots and lots of beer.

Like someone else said, the roads will be so crowded as the best time to use an EMP would be during the day when it would have the most effect. You'd be one of few vehicles driving around until you ran out of gas and the electrical pumps at the station wouldn't work either.

Your best bet is not to be dependant on anything that needs electricity.

Bicycles and guns come to mind.

xj is not the best vehicle to harden
a pre 80's truck would be better, like others have said, with a mechanical fuel pump and carburetor.

the only problem, the wiring harness might be toast too. any run of wire can become an antenna for the pulse, and go poof.
but rest assured, if the pulse was bright enough to fry the car, we wont be around to worry about starting it anyway.

a model T would do pretty well. very little electrics to fry.

anyone not hiding under 8 ft of concrete, 1 ft of lead and wrapped in a faraday cage will be resting comfortably way up high...

There is a dirt road thats about 40 miles into a national forest a couple miles away. I was thinking if I could just get to there w/the XJ and the other stuff in my BOB I'll be alright. Of course, it just depends on how many other people have the same plan and are as prepared as I am. :)

Once I get a house though, those plans change significantly barring a massive flood or some other natural disaster that forces me out of my home. Right now, my second floor apartment right next to two busy streets doesn't seem remotely defensable.

But I'm probably screwed anyway seeing as I'm within eyeshot of NORAD.

Create a faraday cage that you can integrate into the shell of your Jeep.

Or, keep it stored in a faraday cage (transform your garage into one, keep your electronics in it).
