JKTXJ said:PVC? Scary!! I can see electrical conduit, as some of it has .065 and up wall thickness, comparable to most roof racks. Of course you have coatings and stuff on there that have to be removed before welding, so is it really worth it? 3/4" or 1" tubing is not all that expensive. Plus, you can succesfully use conduit benders on thin tube if you match the sizes. Just check a conduit chart for outside dimensions, as it is measured different than tube is.
