When are you going? Me and a few buds are running the Dusy for the first time Aug 1-4, I'll post some pics and a brief summary.

Does anyone know of a good on-line source for info on this trail? I've found a few but nothing really detailed.

Also is there anyone else from SC running the Dusy that weekend?

I was planning on the 3rd to the 9th depending on the feed back on using my trooper. I am also bringing my cherokee with 4 inch lift 31 tires and rear arb locker

Which way are you running? It is my understanding that most run from Cartright Res. or in other words from the south to the north.

We are camping at the trail head Friday night and hitting Chicken Rock Sat am. We plan on coming off the trail Monday pm.

I herd it was a little easier from north to south so from my first time I was going to run it that way. we would start the trail monday morning

There is a good campsite about a mile past chicken rock at the northernmost tip of the reservoir. Running it North to South, more downhill. Post up if the reservoir is down and the beach is wide.

I am most concerned about off camber sections. the trooper is rather tall and top heavy with the roof rack full

No gate restrictions, just have to make it through the squeeze and up chicken rock if your heading south to north and there is nobody to call. You need a fire permit if you plan on having a fire.

Is the trail open yet? You have to check that to see when it opens, based on snow pack, so it's a different time each year.

You always need a CA fire permit to have any open flame when camping in the back country. They're good for the whole year.

where is the last place to get gas starting the trail from huntington lake going north to south

I was just up camping at Edison last week and there wasnt any gas past Shaver. IIRC it was very close to 4$ a gallon.
dont forget to get a burger at huntington at the outpost? whatever the restaurant there is. its quite good and cheap for where it is.

The WHOLE family(40+ people) has the yearly camping disaster up there every year, maybe next year i will have to skip the first half of it and do some wheeling.

there is a gas station at Huntington lake but its going to be expensive. Its after Kaiser Pass Rd. just keep going until you see it, but if you end up at lake shore resort you went too far.

OMG! What a trail! Dusy just never gives you a break. 32 miles of Con like punishment.

We just got back Monday at Midnight, look for a trail report w/pics either tonight or tomorrow night.

If you haven't done the Dusy you are missing out on possibly the hardest overall experience in the world of REAL trails (not the Hammers or other man made "trails").
