Anyone recommend a shop in the Brentwood/Franklin area that could replace the u-joints on a rear drive shaft? I removed the drive shaft and the thing was so rusty I can't get them to budge.

Also, what would you expect to be charged for 2 u-joints and labor?

Thanks!

dave's driveshafts! woot! cheap, and the best within 100 miles. oh wait.... you do realize you can change the ujoints yourself in 30 minutes, right? they'd prolly charge $20 apiece installed, though, if you just wanna be lazy. you'd hafta take the driveshaft out for that price. don't feel bad, i've done it. i'd do it for you for the cheap if you want me to. i'm tryin to make a little christmas money, and i live in murfreesboro.
EDIT: sorry, i didn't notice that you already tried o do it yourself....

Thanks guys...those were actually my two initial thoughts.

Trailrate--you know any pull a parts that have a 2001? The one up by John Tune only has older models, and as I understand the output shafts are different in the 2001.

JeepAddict85--Yes...this is a stock rear drive shaft with u-joints on either end. Measures (from middle of u-joint to middle of u-joint) 28 3/4inches

TrailRate--I have nothing to compare with, but when I did a different, yet related, thread in the OEM forum, someone said that the output shaft on the 2001 was outside the transfer case. This was said in reference to someone else mentioning in that thread that the t-case fluid lubricates the splines. That lead me to assume, perhaps wrongly, that the drive shaft and the sleave that covers the output shaft were different on the 2001 models.

ill check when i get home tonight if i still have the stock one. it shouldnt be any different, used to have an 01 and now have a 2000, and done a sye on both.

you gave me the stock one, remember? i have a stock one at my house:D it doesn't matter between years, it only matters between different transmissions and rearends. if you wanna measure the length of yours, i'll measure this one, and if it fits, you can have it.

Mine is 28 3/4 inches from center of u-joint to center of u-joint.

Those measurements were from the stock. When I am done I will be at 3.5".

the shaft i have will prolly work for ya, then. you're welcome to it. i think the joints in it are good. they have been replaced in the last year, so if they're no good, at least they'll come out easy.

yeah, i put that one in my blue jeep, and then bogosian gave me another one, so i have a couple bent ones, and one good one.
greg, yours might actually be a better length for him, i'm not sure. the '01 was a little short for my blue one with 4.5" lift and an ax15/d35
