I need my rear driveshaft shortened. Where would you guys recommend to have this done? I live in Cupertino, FYI.

Thanks.

Witt is right, Eric got his done there, good work, check them out see what they can do.

Also there is the few 4x4 shops in the area, most are big $$$ like Arabias Automotive in Los Gatos or Campbel (I think OverKill 4x4 is the new name) http://www.arabiasauto.com/
Blue Devil Products in Campbell http://www.bluedevilproducts.com
and there is a 4wheelparts in San Jose

Also there is "Up and Down Trucks" in Santa Clara but that shop is worse then 4WheelParts and will do anything to rip you off. They will fu©k you up and down!

I have not done business with Arabias or Blue Devil Products, I have met the people that run the shops and they seem nice, I have found it way too much $$ to fix any of my rigs there, but same with 4wp . . .

Thanks for the input.

Any tips on measuring how much I need off of the DS? It's approximetley 4" too long. So I was thinking of taking 6-7" out. It'd then be half way out while at rest.

Steve over at South Bay is a great guy and does good work. I've had at least 4 made by him. As far as how much to take off, let him figure out the exact amount. I would measure from yolk center to yolk center and let him cut down the shaft. He'll know what to do.

Alright will do. Would I be able to drive around in 4wd with only the front DS connected? I think it'd be alright for a week or so, until I get the rear DS cut and mounted.

A buddy of mine broke a U-joint on his rear DS and drove home in 4wd with the front doing the moving (ofcourse his rear DS was removed), it *seemed* to be ok...

if you have a sye kit then yes... if you don't then you'll puke atf all over the place.

I have the RE hack n tap kit.

About how much should I expect to pay for them to cut the driveline? What's a good/bad price?

I just dropped my driveshaft off at a shop in Concord. He quoted me $110 to have cv style shaft retubed and balanced. I figure it shouldn't be any more than that for yours.

Got a quote from South Bay Driveline for $95. Guess I'll be making a trip there tomorrow.

Thanks for the help guys.
