Drift jeep? (mj)

the japanese invented drifting? what year did they do this my dad and some of his freind in the early 70s use to road race alot through sharp curves and slide(drift) all the way around the curve due to how they are 100 degree turns < so i know for a fact drifting was going on long before that here in the states it just was not called such. ever seen DUKES OF HAZARD. do i think "drifting" is gay. no. do i think it takes skill. yes, but why would you do it for art(points). it is a thrill to slide around curves. if you don't think so get in a 350z, s2000,or something like that and slide(drift) around some curves, if you do so and you heart is not beating out of you chest congradulations you're gay. haahaahaahaahaahaahaa

ive wrapped the back end of my (not locked) 4.0 MJ around one time and thats one time to many, it comes around quick, bad weight distribution my friend.

i wouldnt do it. especially not to a perfectly good 4litre (4x4? you didnt say) MJ theres not many left.

and if you put a "fart can" muffler on a jeep FOR ANY REASON, you are going to be made fun of and be called gay.

just my opinion

It's not the same as just getting sideways around big turns. The point is to keep the ass end sliding/spinning the entire time. It started in Japan, becuase most of the cars are turbo. In autocrossing, in order to keep the cars "in boost" they have to keep the RPM's up so instead of sticking it around a corner and romping it when you come out like V8's can do, they spin the tires and keep the turbo spooled up so it doesn't bog after you come out of the turn. It just evolved from there.

ice skates were probably invented for transportation or games like hockey. doesn't make "ice dancing" any less lastara

nope. the na's were a 10:1 while the TT's were 8:1, mine is a NA converted, they came with t4's but the europ models had 9b's. they also had DSM's while mine is a FMIC.

(i have turbed stuff b4, i just wanna do it to a jeep too)

should be fun ;)
what do you mean they also had DSM's? DSM is Diamond Star Motors, which was the godawful joint project between Chrysler and Mitsubishi, turning out pieces of crap such as the Talon and the Eclipse...

FMIC=Front Mount Intercooler

now unless you meant something else with those abbreviations, that sentence makes no sense.

LMAO

I think he ment dual side mount intercoolers.

As for my little explination on the origins of drifting, I still think it's gay too. I just have a lot of friends that do it (I do live in Japan for shish sakes) and I drive a turbo car here, so it's easy to see how it got going. Like I said though, still gay :twak:

Drifting in the snow is the most fun.....kicking up clouds of snow so you can't even see out your windows, and if you roll them down, you get blasted in the face :)

Cant beat it in Buffalo either. I love doing 4 wheel drive drifts, 2wheel i can barely get moving cause i have an open diff. As for drifting, a few of my friends have nissan 240sx's and all they seem to do is get in trouble with the police not to mention they are POS's with 200k+ miles on them.

I must admit that I get a lil excited when I happen upon a few wet turns that are perfect for kickin the XJ's @$$ out with a blip of throttle. I have a lil too much faith in those ADDCOs, I think. Wonder when I'll get around to installing that Auburn LSD.
