Doug thorley header.. where to put the TWO o2 sensors?

I have a Doug Thorley header comming in soon and I need to know where to place the two O2 sensors on it. I assume that there is already one location some where near the end of it, but my XJ has two upstream sensors. One monitors cylinders 1-3 and the other monitors 4-6.

Should I put one in the curent location on the header and one close to it, or should I put them some place else? I haven't seen this header so I have no idea where to put them.

What about clearance issues?

My brother put a doug thorley header on his 98 XJ....Clearance issues were not a problem....As far as the O2 sensors, I'm pretty sure their on the down pipe. What year is it?

Take another look. The upstream 02 sensors are on the downpipe in the bungs welded in just above the mini cats, the downstream 02 sensors are in the bungs welded in just below the mini cats.

No, take a look at my pics. The upstream sensors are located in teh stock exhaust manifold, and the down stream are on the down pipe.

That looks like the manifold to me.

Anyway, it doesn't matter where they are located. I need to have 2 o2 bungs welded on to my exhaust header.

Just for curiosity sake what did the headers cost you?

Mine is a 95 so the price will be different but I am sure that it will be close.

Thanks,

Yeah. It was. But I was stuck with the 1998 head on my 2000 block and no exhaust. Exveryone said that there wouldn't be a problem fitting the 2000 exhaust to the 1998 head. They were wrong. So I had to order the header in mid project.

I've got a '99 xj with a 4.0 and a doug thorley and unfortunately, I can't help you much as to where to place the o2 sensors seeing as mine are on the down pipe. I can say however, that the header seems to smooth out the idle, adds a lot of breathing for the engine at higher RPM's, but I have noticed a lower off the line torque. It doesn't bother me too much, as I am always on the highway. I'm putting on my lift this weekend, so I can post some pictures when i get the cance, but I doubt that they will be very helpful. if you'd like some though, let me know. I've got about 50,000 miles on the header now and it will change color from that clean shiny look, so take some pictures :laugh3: because it won't last. Also, if you get mud onto it, it will bake on, so be careful. yadayadayada and so forth, lol, if you have any questions, let me know. Oh, and make sure you torque the header onto the head properly or you may have an exhaust leak.
