its getting hot here in GA, so its time to go doorless! only part is i dont know how to "properly" take the doors off my ZJ. i have looked all over th eweb and all i can find is legality threads. i've read its simple but im not too sure, something like undo the 4 bolts that hold the door to the hinge and then the torx screw that hold the plug for the wires in and thats it. can anyone verify this for me?

thanks

Maybe look at blow-apart diagrams of the doors and how they bolt to the hinges?

I have 2 ZJs and those guys over at NAGCA.COM or not bad. It's no where near the site this 1 is, but then again there are much more XJs produced and on the road. Like what was said, look at a Hanes/Chilton's manual. Should be a easy way to take off those doors or make it so the doors pop off on and off easily.

just take the torx bolts out its hard to get in there the first time but replace them with regular bolts... makes it alot easier to take the doors on and off!

REALLY helps to have a second person helping out the way I do it, but it can be done by one person if you put a jackstand under the door. When you open up the door, you should notice that there are 4 bolts holding the door to the Jeep. These should be 10mm. Take those out while your buddy holds the door. Now you have the electrical harness. There's a tiny torx screw in there that you have to unscrew and then you can pull the harness out. That part is kind of a PITA. Now your dome lights are going to be on all the time. Get a small flat head screwdriver and pop out the door switch pins. Pull the wiring out a little bit and there's a harness you can unplug. The Jeep now thinks the doors are shut and your dome lights go off.

Not that it matters if your getting rid of it anyways, but there it is.

NAGCA isn't too bad, but LOTS of repeat questions so I don't even read half of the crap.

If people searched they could find the info instead of making a new thread. Because of that there are LOTS of dead threads...

But I have been over there for years so I still go there everyday.
