Door Speaker Install for speakers that wouldn't fit

BTW, how do speakers count as "Street and performance tech?"

All the car audio Q&A has always gone in this section.

To the OP: if you aren't going to listen to anyone's advice, why ask your question? Pull your damn door panel off and figure it out yourself! you seem to know how to get the specs for a speaker off the manufacturers website, and I hope that your ability to read and post here means you understand how to use a ruler... so get to it princess. putting a bigass speaker in the front door is going to do horrible things to your sound presence inside the truck, but if you want to do it so bad just get to it and stop wasting bandwidth.

Cut the grilles out and mount them. I drilled a hole directly above that a couple inches for the tweeters. I had my Alpine 6.5 Type-R components in the old Jeep(97) like that. They will be going into the new jeep(also a 97) as soon as I get around to it. NO pictures for you but they shouldn't be needed to get the idea.

here you can mod the window with this:

my 89 is a limited. it has all the power features. The only modification i had to do was cut the hole. I mounted the speaker over to doorpanel, I would assume that absorbed 3/4"
The factory door speaker locations did not change from 84-01' and the magnet of your speaker should be mounted under the corner window of your door, and NOT under the actual moving window. It is my understanding that the doors are internally the same for both Generations of the XJ minus cosmetic changes and possible change in electronic connections.

Well your installation perfectly qualifies! Your first was made me believe you simply pulled off the door panels and screwed them in. You did quite a bit to get those in. By all means post the install. i'm interesting in 6-1/2's but I'm sure someone will find your install helpful to them.

I'd like to see how you mounted speakers in the front doors that according to specs would hit the window and the door panel.

Every coaxial and component speaker system I've "really" liked won't go in without some work. All are 6-1/2 or 6-3/4. I have a 2001 Sport. There are several cheaper, less exciting 6-1/2 speakers that will fit, but I don't wanna make do. I want what I want. I'm even considered cutting a hole in the door panels and covering the hole with an 8" speaker grill painted to match the panel.

Let me see what you've done.

P.S. This tread is not for "I have XXXX speakers that fit perfectly with no mods and sound better than every system I've ever heard."

"nothing will fit in my door, so I need advice, but I don't want you telling me what you installed successfully into your door... which techinally's advice, but I don't want it. So please guys, I need some advice"
Does that about sum up your post?

Well anyways, here's my advice. If this dude can fit that deer into his trunk than you can fit 6.5" speakers into your door.

So? Do you really want help or you just here to be stupid?

I give up on you. If you had read and understood the original post you never would have (or at least shouldn't have) posted.

Now back to the adults and the original topic. BTW, thanks for all those that understand this thread and are sticking to topic.

he wasn't able to post it in Ad Fab where he wanted it?

Dude, like I said, I wasn't trying to be rude. I guess I just didn't know a better way to reitterate what I already said. I only repeated the "rule" to prevent a lot of post going the wrong route. And what you don't know is that immediately after posting a response, I PM'd him letting him know what I posted and why. We also discussed the Kappas...civilly. As for why he came at me crazy, I don't know. I guess by typed words alone (no voice or facial expressions), it's easy to get offended. Nothing personal intended at that time.

As for why I posting in this forum: I saw other car audio related post here and there is no Car Audio forum on NAXJA. I'm all for using the correct forum, so if a moderator wishes to move this thread to a forum more suited to car audio, that would be fine.

I do see that this thread has died,so I fold.

Tool.

Again, not to be rude, but if you have speakers that fit with no modification, please refrain from posting.
Trying to herd cats here on the internet, while being rude to them, only gets you scratched :roflmao:

I suggest the use of a 4lb mallet and a pair of tin snips. You can fit anything in there if you want to bad enough.

Can you Tell me WHAT SPEAKERS you have that WONT fit?

For crying out loud, I have 6x9s in all 4 doors. and they are DEEP.
Wtf are you trying to mount? a Stadium Loudspeaker?

Ditto, my 6x9's fit fine all the way around and windows don't hit. even have them in my hatch with a little modification.

Yeah because Talyn has no Idea what he is talking about. Take that attitude somewhere else dude!

I installed 6.5" Punch 2-ways in my 99 sport 4 door. Depending on the basket depth, if it hits your doors n windows, they make spacers to help clear it.
