IMO the "battlefield cross" is one of the most moving things one can witness.

I was at Bagram AF, Afghanistan last year and my heart would sink everytime I walked past some unit HQ and see a pair of boots, an M-16, and a helmet. The sad part is we would see that alot more than the media portrays.

Each memorial is about $5,500 . (the rifle, helmet and plaque are bronze
and the base is cement). Every bit helps, so buying a flag and flying it
are a big help.
