Does anyone have a K&N FIPK?

What kinda gas mileage/performance does this really give you?? I am looking to increase my gas mileage-'94 4.0 HO, auto 235/75/15's and may seriously consider this if it will help. Thanks

Jeff

I've looked at 62mm throttle bodies too. I just finished overhauling my 91 4.0 HO. A complete bottom up reman. .060 over, crank cleaned up at .010, .010 under, stock cam, new everything, "no kiddin". Put a set of Gibson 16 ga stainless headers on it, high flow cat, flowmaster 40. Now I want to address the intake side. I want to put a set of Bosch Mean Greenie 20lb injectors, <http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_SetsJEEP.asp> a 62mm throttle body, <http://www.thefastman.com/Throttlebodies40.asp> and that pricey K&N cold air intake. (I don't have access to metal bending tools) This should really make my little 4.0 scoot. Can someone tell me about their experience(s) with the 62 mm TB? Thanks, Kevin in NC

I bought the Air Raid - it sits in the existing box and is raised up so you don't splash the Filter...The hood closes onto a rubber gasket on top and seals everything.

I just remove the filter at each oil change and clean it (more often if I run in the dust). Sounds cool when you mash the Accelerator too! :)

I had just purchased the Fastman 62mm TB at the same time I installed the FIPK. All I can say is wow it smoothed out accel and shifting considerably highly reccomended. The guy that does the Fastman TB is a good guy and he is a 1 man shop working and is very knowledgable. Maybe if you tell him you were reccomended to him from a guy on this forum he'll hook you up! But seriously you cant beat his price for what your getting. :)

That's no joke, the pricks at H$sco want over $350 for a 62 mm TB/ Fastman will do it for $150 plus a $75 core. Ok, the 62 mm TB from Fastman is a done deal. What's the deal on the TB spacer? Why use one, better yet, why pay what Hesco wants for one? Not tryin to be smart here, I really don't know. Some guys use 'em, some don't. Thanks, Kevin

I don't know I dont have 1 and I guess the FIPK doesn't corresspond well w/1.

It is to tall, as it is w/out 1 it hits the hood when its closed

Again, build your own FIPK.......you can still use the accordion hose, its inside diameter at the air filter end is 3"....get some copper plumbing pipe, a 45* elbow to fit around it. Cut the pipe into 2 sections - in fact, you only need 1 7" section and the elbow (the elbow should fit inside the accordion hose).

I also have a TBS and no clearance issues whatsoever.

Why use a TBS? Primarily, midrange torque. It lowers the torque curve slightly due to the intake being slightly longer.

Does it help? F*ck yeah. Is it a lot? Not so much peak, but it definitely makes the motor more spritely across the entire rev range. After installation, it feels like a very low-boost turbo (.1psi) right around 2.5-3k.
