Dino's 99XJ build thread... It begins!

Yeah, the primary reason I even get SnapOn stuff these days is because of the convienance factor. The tools are definitely a better quality, but they're expensive. The fact that I can make interest free payments on the truck and he comes to my work every week makes it nice though.

Craftsman, and harbor freight are great for at home type use, but dutch is right...when your using them from sun up to sun down day after day thats when your appreciate and need the difference in quality between snapon/mac/matco and the lower brands. And paying like $25 a week makes it easy to swallow spending the money you do on snapon.

Hey, how did you know what my Snap On payment is??!!!?? :D

Its funny too though, my Snap On guy was like, "Sure you only want to do 25$ this week? You don't want to raise it up a bit?" My respons was, "Hey man, I told you what I'd be making in payments. Its not my fault you let me walk away with so many tools." I normally maintain a 1-200$ balance on the truck account but I picked up a few higher dollars items the last few months and racked it up a bit higher. I'm down to 465$ now. Still, he can't complain. I've been paying him that 25$/week for 5 years now. I've also made a few big purchases with him too that had to go on SnapOn credit. Mainly my tool boxes (first the bottom and then the top) and my cordless impacts. I'm not his biggest spender (I normally only go after his used or repossesed stuff) but I'm a consistent and continuous customer.

I actually wish I had a Harbor Freight closer to me. Driving all the way to Westminster or Greeley brings the suck.

Ha ha, yeah i never pay more then $25 a week, unless i really wanna pay something off to buy another expensive item. My $6,500 classic 96 box was the only thing i put on snapon credit, and i got their lowest interest rate so that wasnt too bad, less than $200 a month iirc

Yeah, I got my KRL 2 bank bottom box for 2700$ that I put on credit. Then I got the matching top box later on, it was used and cost me 1600$

front bumper and sound system done!

So I snuck some time this sunday to work on the Jeep since my Cowboys aren't playing ball anymore this season, go the horn(s) moved up and out of the way,

did not move the fog lights where I want them yet since the switch has been getting stuck on my, I ripped it apart first to see what was up, the whloe inside of the fog light switch was melted in a big ball of plastic.... So I need to replace the insides of that and then I will get my front rock lights done up.

Put the shortened and painted front back on, like it!

Moved on to the stereo since the old Infinity system would reset every time I turned the Jeep off and the cd player would not play disc's and the sound was all cracked up..

The new one is a Pioneer and the speakers are 4 new 5.25's HD's, it sounds good and all works right now!! Love tunes out on the trail. Went with a head unit with an AUX and I-pod/phone USB plug for those trails too far from radio service.

All is all a great sunday in the garage. Have tons left on the to-do list, but first is to throw that Spartan in and get the front lights and switch done.

Until then...

I would take more pics and do write-ups, but my hands always seem to be dirty at the point when I am thining about it.. Guess if Jeep didn't screw up and quit making the XJ I could have a nice clean new one.. lol
