Digital Camera help

Can anyone recommend a digital camera in the $100-200 range (3-4 megpixel)? I have an Olympus D-540. It takes great pics but the lag time is excessive. Last night while taking pics of my neices, they had moved on doing something else by the time the camera actually took the picture. Have tried fresh batteries and not using the LCD viewer to no avail. TIA Blaise :us:

For christmas, I bought my wife a Nikon 4600, 4 MP digital camera, came with an Epson photo printer, for $139.00 for both. Inkley/Ritz Camera. HTH

Yeah bro, the lag time stinks on the consumer point-and-shoots. Shutter lag and boot-up times are unfortunate compromises on digitals under $800-1000. One way you can 'fool' them into taking faster photos is to half depress the shutter release, which gets you past the autofocus (AF) feature. The reason many of them are slow to take photos is because when you press the button from the beginning to end, the camera has to autofocus and THEN take the shot. By pushing the button down halfway on most digitals, you can reduce the lag time significantly. Just takes a little practice. :) I know, it's frustrating! I finally broke down and bought a Nikon D70, which has near zero boot time and shutter lag. Not even a noticeable difference from my film cameras. :)

As far as quality, I've looked into several of the '$200-600' digitals...and found that the Nikon, Sony, Kodak, and Canon lines are excellent. :)
