Dicks little white XJ

Wow, you guys are harsh.

Dick I had the same issue with my old 30 and 44 covers. I ordered the standard covers, and bought some regular hex bolts for them. I could only get them so tight with a socket, and had to do the final torquing with a wrench. Not a big deal, and once they're installed who cares.

I agree with Dave though, and would have used socket head cap screws (allen bolts) from the start had I known better at the time. Ruff Stuff really should just add a small line on their diff cover page about appropriate hardware. On my new set of covers I went the countersunk route, and they came with hardware.

Either way, Dan's covers are top notch. I'll always run them.

Yeah had I known that the standard bolt head would not work, I would have gotten something different. And had I known(or paid attention to the fact) that the non countersunk covers didnt come with hardware I would have gotten the countersunk one just to not have to worry about it. Oh well. Live and learn and stay a banker that normally isn't on the trails.

I'm sorry I'm being a Richard, I will be nice. Sometimes I forget how much older I'm am then some of the rest of you, and that I do a lot of this stuff for a living.

Dave

I actually really like them. They ride really smooth for essentially being a bogger. In trails they do great(I only had them out once in trails but my buddy had these before me and had great things to say). They can dig in the snow if your throttle happy and especially if you don't air down. However when aired down they do pretty well. The sidewalls are really stiff. At 10psi you can barely tell they are aired down. I'd be happy to run them if I didn't want to go to 35s. So they are going next week. (trading the set and some cash or 35" km2s). I think you'd be happy running them. And they're pretty light for what it is I'd say. Only like 56lbs I think.

Pic of completed Dana 30. I'll get more when I'm home and actually see it for myself.

(having trouble uploading, will do in a sec)

The Passenger side UCA mount looks beefy now.

I thought you might like that.

This XXXXing lower drag link bolt isn't working. I can't get it to stop spinning to save my life. That's all I need to have the axle completely installed. I did a couple back and forth rolls to make sure everything rolled right and that was ok. Once this bolt is tight I can put a cotter pin in everything and I'll be done.

Are you using an impact gun? Sometimes if you hit with a gun, the taper will seat and stop it from spinning.

Try putting the pickle fork in and then tighten. Sometimes that works.

Or maybe figure another way of loading the ball to the joint housing. :dunno:

Im not sure were I'm at on lift height. I believe 5.5" coils up front and out back is a 1.5" UBE, I believe 2" shackle and bravad bastard pack.
