DFW Camping.......

i love camping more than anything in the world. im not too familiar with north texas camping. i just moved back from PA and last year went camping 12-13 times. here tho, i dont know where to go. im at zip 76017. where do yall camp? i like to leave friday night and go home sunday. so a short night friday and go home sunday sometime. im willing for an hr-90 minute drive. i love to camp and i dont even care if its with people or just me. i just need to camp. and i need to learn about our areas.

i normally camp (like the one or two times here) over on the OK side of lake texoma. i do alittle wheeling and bushwacking and then set up camp on the lake side.

or.

me and some friends will wander about locally on the farm lands till were lost and then find some where to camp. then the next day try to find our way home.


but around DFW there isnt much to camp around that i know of. maybe lake murray or someplace like that.

Check out a place called Turner Falls. Nice place, may be a little too civilized for some tastes, but there is a pretty nice set of falls and swim area for the kids.
Check the weather before leaving though. We went and had some torrential rain and the next two days we were stuck in the campground because the entrance has a water crossing to get it. (half an inch of water when it's not raining) LOL, there is only one way in last time I was there. We had lots of fun that weekend.

new policy though- No pets. That sucks because we wanted to go back and we have two dogs.

Possum kingdom sate park is nice. Almost all of the camp sites are right on the lake. Its about 90 miles or so west of Fort Worth (give or take)

i forgot about PK lake. im looking at joe pool lake right now. closest place that allows alcohol. that ban of alcohol in state park is kinda ridiculous. for us responsible adults it kinda ruins a lot of the places we can camp cause of the risk of a ticket. but thats for another time.

any of yall go to lloyd park on lake ray roberts before?
