Deer Valley Weekend of 8/27 Anyone?

Howdy :cheers:

It looks like the weekend of 8/27 opened up for me so I was thinking of taking my 4 year old son camping & wheeling. I want to hit Deer Valley, leave Friday Night and head back on Sunday.

I would hit the Con with who ever is going but my son hasn't really been wheelin' and I think a less challenging / shorter trail might be better for his first trip out

Anyone interested?

I just got back and the trail was in great shape. Granted, I have nothing to compare it to as it was my first time there, but I was amazed to see how clean the trail and campsites were. It seems I always come back from wheeling with twice as much garbage as I came in with (I hate litterbugs), but I didn't see anything. In short, great time, great trail and good luck next weekend!

so it looks like as of now we will running up to slickrock on friday evening, run that fri and sat out, then maybe deervalley or just play on the stair steps/ladder and then maybe go play on the granite in the back by the camp sites...
i think maybe the weekend of the 4,5,6th we will be hitting swamp lake

just replaced the two front calipers and pads real quick tonight after replacing the timing belt, all three oil pump seals, crankshaft seal, distributor, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, plugs, cap and rotor, tps, water pump, oil pressure sending unit, coil , and radiator on my DD camry. had some pulling to the right under braking int he XJ. figured it was a sticking caliper and the two really loose axle side uca bolts. gotta bleed the hell out of the brakes tomorrow again.


so who is down for slickrock and camping at the south end friday night by the slabs?

HAHA! Tough but easy, i ran Slickrock, Deer Valley, and Strawberry the 13th through the 15th....I was the only XJ in a group of 3, others were a built Yota, and a Zuzu. I was open open, and was the only one to not sustain any body damage or breakage...

Bring your bug spray, the squito's at Deer Valley were BAD:fuse:

My plan as of now is to Drive out on Friday evening around 6:30 / 7:00 and get to Hermit around 10:30 / 11:00.

Wheel Deer Valley on Saturday. Since this is a small group we could leave a little later like 10:00 or get an early start (9:00ish) so we have time to go play at the Lake for a little while. Although, checking the forecast it looks like it's gonna be chilly (high 60's during the day and low 40's at night).

One of two things can happen for Sunday:
1. If my Hockey team wins its play off game tonight then our next game is on Sunday at 2:30. If that's the case I will need to leave Sunday by 9am.

2. If my Hockey team loses tonight (highly unlikely) then I am completely free to either run Slick Rock or take junior down to the lake to play (or both ).

Hey Mark, I dont think I can make it for Deer Valley this weekend...actually, JoseJalapeno and I just ran this trail last weekend with our ladies. We wanted to give them a taste of a real trail without a big group. They had a great time...
I would love to run it again with you guys, but I dont think I can, maybe Rubicon later in Sept?

well i know i will be on slick rock fri night,
and i plan on being back there saturday night
and i love playing on the ladder and the granite in the back around the corner from it
so are we gonna run deer valley from hwy 4 and back and then run slickrock and camp at the south end on saturday?
i prob will hit the trail head between 7 and 9 since i have to work on fri(in sac).
as for saturday i cant guarantee i can get up that early and run out of slick rock but if i actually wake up by 9:00 i prob can.

i do plan on running deer valley on sat!
the other jeep in my group is my dads good friend with an xj on a 3.5" open open and 31's.
