Deer Valley Trail (Lots of Pics)

hey guys - just a bump for next week's trip.

I won't be getting to the camp site until after 10pm on Friday night. My friends Dave and Sean will get there some time during the day. We are camping at the Hermit Valley Campground http://www.californiajeeper.com/deerval/review.htm

I don't have an official count but it looks like there will be at least 8 to 10 rigs on the trail. Due to the number of rigs we will need to be on the trail no later than 9:30am on Saturday.

We will be on CB Chanel 29 for the weekend.

PM me if you have any questions.

How long do you think it'll take me in my stock rig I'd like to go I have to be in S. Lake by 3p. I'd like to meet some of the S.C.

like the pics.

There you see the flares and then you dont. :D

Stock would take a long time, honestly - I don't think could get through there.

How about Strawberry => Deer => Slick rock
and camp somewhere along the trails ?
I've done this before and it works well. Just bring a little extra gas just in case.

We fueled up in Meyers (coming from Tahoe). Did Strawberry and headed over to Deer Valley trail. Blue Lakes have nice campgrounds and you can have a campfire in the pits but there is a fee to camp there. But on this trip we just made our way down the trail about 1/4 mile and there are a couple very nice camping spots off the side of the trail and near the river. Next day we completed Deer Valley and did the same thing for Slick Rock. Rather than trying to find a spot at Alpine Lake, we camped along the trail right next to the river. Very Nice!

Never been to Deer Valley and the photos look enticing.

The trail guide for californiajeeper.com state that a stock jeep would make it. The Dodge in the photos does not look like it has any mods (maybe slight lift) however there is visible damage to the lifted XJ, not just the flares, but the R/F bumper end cap has been shoved in.

It will be interesting to see Shark's photos after his weekend run.

Both the Dodge and my XJ got some decent damage. You are correct it was stock with MT's. I have a bent crossmember several kisses on my rockers front DL damage as well as the bumper damage. Mind you we ran this trail the "easy way". I'll be back up there on the 29th to go at it from the HWY 4 side of things. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Ohh yeah, the caljeepers trail guide is awesome! but hasn't been updated in 7 years.
