A year or so we went up in mid-late March and the trail was in snow past my grille. What set up you got?

Not the kind that would defeat that deep of snow. I have an '00 with a ~4.5"s and 265/75's, Oh and driving skill too. ;)

My friend is also bringin his xj with a similar setup and 33"s

#1) There's another storm coming in on Saturday into Sunday, make sure you're well prepared. Got recovery gear? Warm clothes, food, etc?

#2) Mother Nature trumps all driving skills.

#3) the recent storm activity has proven to me that my XJ blows in deep snow
I have a hazy memory of beating on the hood with a snow shovel last time it got stuck in my driveway.

Thats not your XJ's fault, this handled the snow just fine.

Yeah I know the chances are slim that's why I see it as an adventure. Yeah I'm pretty well prepared, I keep most of that stuff in my jeep all the time.

But true! LOL Now if you had any vegetation that grew sideways instead of straight up (like everywhere else on the planet), you'd have a cover shot for any 4 wheel or off-roading type magazine.

Haha oh Yeah? I thought chains were for mailmen? :)
Only way I've been able to push deep snow in other vehicles, like up and over the hood deep.

I think the XJ is too light for that though, I don't have chains for it as I'm waiting to get 31's on it first. Or just sell it and get a landcruiser.

Seriously though, I think chains do wonders, if you have the right vehicle for them. I agree that the XJ is too light for them to be real effective, but they can still offer an advantage.

OK here's the after action report:

Well we made it to about the mud pit area (real far, I know), the snow got to around 3-5 feet. We had to winch out of several situations, luckily nothing too difficult. On our way back down we helped a couple fellow jeepers whose rubi's couldn't make it up. All in all a very non-productive trip that was still fun. (I will post pix soon, though I'm sure you all know what it looks like.)
