dana 35 c-clip vs non c clip

I asked this on the main board and didn't get any responses so figured you guys would be more readily to respond. Is the non c-clip D35 stronger than the c-clipped 35? Just curious.

There isn't a difference in axle spline or dia. The non c-clip or semi-float has an advantage from the standpoint of axle retention in the case of a shaft breakage.
Thats about it. Also some of the earlier models had larger brakes.
