Good looking pattern. My experience has taught me a cool fact. In about 90% of the gear installs I've done. For some reason, the pattern almost always improved upon final assembly.
oh, and rule of thumb regarding backlash. Move 1.5 x the shims of difference desired. if your BL is @ .009 and you want .007. Move .003 shim.
I stopped actually measuring BL with a dial indicator along time ago. IMO its all about the pattern and the feel. The only measuring I do is shim thickness. But that comes with experience.
