dana 30 axel swap and tranny and motor mounts

okay and here it is as far as my results dun dun dunnnnn , okay the axel shafts are interchagable but the 86 hubs are longer so u have to use the 96 hubs and also the rotors are different to so u will have to use the 96 rotors too but the brakes will work

the 86 hub is actually that much longer that you couldn't put the axle nut on, or did something else not clear????

so you used the 96 hubs in the 86 knuckle, or did you end up using the 96 knuckle???

i used the 86 knuckle with the 96 hubs and shafts, and the 86 hubs are longer on the backside so it pushes the on the tone ring prolly 3/4of an inch difference

That setup will work for the brakes? From what i read u need to match up the hubs, knuckles and brakes all from the same years?

well the hubs won't affect the brakes if the front side are at the same distance.

but if the rear of the hubs is longer on the 86 and the 96 is shorter on the backside, then i'm almost wondering if you wouldn't have to use a spacer of some sort.

do you have acess to a jeep with u-joint style dana 30 so you can compare were your u-joints are sitting compared to the stock style u-joint axle and see if they're the same of if your 86 axle now has the u-joints in a slightly different position.

yeah the 86 are longer on the backside versus the 96 ones and i used the 96 hubs and shafts which have u joints on them so the spacing was perfect . and aslo the the front side of was the same so my brake setup worked perfect but i had to use the 96 rotors also cause the 86 ones are to narrow and wont fit on the hubs

so did it seem like the 96 rotor was centered properly in the caliper, or is there a possibility that it's putting slightly more pressure on one brake pad over the other???

and thanks for being whilling to experiement a little along with what little info i was able to provide. cuz that was one scenerio i haven't had the pleasure of converting or working on yet. now i can add that to my parts conversion list for future tech.
