Yeah, I know what you're thinking, with a handle like that and we haven't seen him on the trail yet. Thought the name would be catchy. Actually, I'm a trout fisherman getting back into wheeling after about 15 years. Owned a couple of V8 CJs and early Bronco. Here's the actual point of the message title; anyone here in the South know where a yard is that might have a good D44 (doesn't have to be complete) from an XJ. I'm starting the build-up of mine and would like to get the 8.25 out for something I trust a little more. Was bidding on e-bay on a couple and one was snatched off early for no apparent reason.

If anybody knows or has one, drop me a line with price and where you are or where the yard is.

I'm in South Carolina and know where two are :) ! Let me know where you are... Maybe we can work something out. How much were you looking to spend?

I'm in Huntsville, Alabama. Looking to get one as cheap as possible, but I know the price varies around the country. I'd say about $350; maybe more, maybe less, depending on what was there. I would accept a less than whole unit if the price was right.

There are two still under 87 XJ's that I have found. They are complete even have the wheels on them.

Next one I see I'll let ya know, they are all over the place around here(Greensboro, NC). I have bought 5 or 6 over the last few years and have never paid more than $150 for one, some as cheap as $50. I'm going to my local xj bone yard later today, I'll give a look for ya.

They usually sell for $300-$500 on Ebay and that doesn't typically include shipping. If you know where they are and grab them I am happy to post them on e-bay for you for a little of the action. Hmmmm $50.00 cost, $300.00 selling price, I like those numbers.

I've had pretty good luck as well, well I think it was good luck, and I'm in Athens, GA... I found one for 200 in a bone yard, sold it on eBay for 365... I hauled it up to the guy (more money for me!) and he said he would've paid upwards of 500 for it if it went that high... too bad it didn't!! I love the numbers too!

Around here the D44 is rare. Like I said I know where two are that he is holding for me.

Last time I was in Smyrna, TN I found one. I can't recall the name of the place, I think it is "Grey's" but it is off Jefferson Pike just north of Sam Ridley and off Murfreesboro Road.

I think they wanted $200 for it.

Depending where you are, you may try Bobby White Motors in Lewisburg, TN. They had a bunch of XJ's last time I was there.

HTH.

i found an d44 under an XJ (very badly beaten) a while back (about 4 months ago), @ a small JY near Onteonta AL, Blount County actually between Onteonta & Cleveland just off highway US 231/ sr 53,
http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=16&n=3757884.00008383&e=547175.000000001&datum=nad83

the turn off hwy 231 (rt) is marked by a sign indicating direction to a Covered Bridge on the same road as the JY, to get to the bridge you'll haveta go by the JY.. its before you drop off the mountain into the "downtown" Oneonta area, so if you start dowen in elev. while still on 231 you've past it..

they quoted me $125 if i pulled it, for everything between the wheels..
i want to say the name of the parts yard was Glover's towing & parts, but i just did a search on www.anywho.com & it turned up nothing by that name..
but i think its not listed as a business i did a search by persons name & came up w/ this
http://www.anywho.com/cgi-bin/amap....ne&city=ONEONTA&state=AL&zip=35121&country=US

& i do believe the name of the street the JY is on is Davis Ln.

if i can help ya anymore, pm me & i'll give ya my ph#..

Hey Rick,

I am back and forth to the GF house in Decatur about twice a week, if you want to pick this up let me know and I can swing by on the way.

biggene,

Yeah, that would be great. Just make sure its D44 XJ and I'll pay the yard cost to remove and your transportation costs. Just get back with me.

Let me know if you or anyone else is intrested.

I might be interested in one of those axles if the price is right ghost. Lane and I put my lift on over the weekend and snapped off a lower shock bolt and had to drill out a wheel stud.

Coulda been wayyyyyyyyyyyyy worse though

Xj D44

Out of a wrecked 87 XJ. 3.55 gearing I believe. (Both are behind the AW-4) I cannot remember exactly but i think they will be around $300 - $350 each. Let me know. [email protected] or PM me. Where are you guys located? Around here axles are expensive and the XJ D44 is very RARE!
