hmm well....the high pinion 9" uses and 8.8 r&p....and as far a a standard 9" , alot of people don't like them cause the pinion is low. If your running fairly stock drivetrain in an XJ your not going to break a 44 or a 9" not without some real beating on it. By the way...just bought 10, 8.8s will take $275 for any of them...
Im still on the lookout for an axle or even a set of matching axles if i can find a good set. keep a lookout for me if you are planning a trip to the boneyard.
being in college limits the time to look, and and means to transport stuff from the yard
well damn after reading my post again, if i dont have enough time to find the axles i wont have enough time to get them set up. plus my friend that does my welding is sans welder right now.
Ghost- do you still have a line on one of those axles?

If your serious about getting a new rear axel go tell Grant Douglas. You will find him in the NC State Engineering bldg almost any evening working on the Baja car. Engineering office can give you directions to the lab.
He has a number of friends in the XJ business that come and go quite often and may be able to hook you up with something.
im in charlotte and am looking for a 44, 8.8, or 9". preferrably something already set up to put under an xj, but whats life without the little challenges. if anyone still has one or has a connection to one, let me know please.
ps- anybody have some with lsd's, lockers, or 4.10 or higher?
