$400, straight from the yard? No rebuild of any sorts, that's gonna turn into a $600 axle without gears. I'm down in Fresno, I'll give you what you paid for it and come pick it up.

well i figure the couple hours of my life pullin it out is worth something plus everyone one the net likes to lowball why would i start low ?? also supply and demand if you can find one closer for cheaper be my guest askin me to go down some is understandable but for what i paid not a chance sorry

When you can get a Dana 44 (from break drum to break drum) for just over $70 on a half price day at most Pick N' Pulls, full price is under $150 with core charge. You might be asking a few $$ too much. I have pulled a dana 44 out and paid for it in less then one hour and I am not very fast at wrenching.

Who knows with the days like we are having everyone seems to have all this extra cash to spend . . . you might get lucky.

thats cool if you guys dont like the price dont buy it !!! if someone really wants it then they can gimme an offer worst they get is a no we dont hardly ever have half off days here and u can never find 44's in the jy but the fact that i paid more than $150 for it had to lay in the mud to pull it and thats its a rare axle makes me think i should atleast make a few bucks

im not trying to rip anyone off i have it posted in a few places if it doesnt sell soon and i dont get any good offers i will drop the price but i might as well try and get what i can in these hard times i need cash just as much as everyone else i need money to finish my xj so i can come wheel with everyone:) its all for a good cause

I'm not trying to rain on your parade but the D44s aren't as rare as you'd think. I pulled 4 XJ D44s out of the San Jose junkyard last year. But I do wish you luck with the sale.

Yeah, and most people here know way to much about the XJ and some even go to pick n pull for fun. Also everyone watches out for everyone here, lots of parts are even given away for free just to help out another NAXJA member. You just never know when you will need that help in return.

You should try Craigslist if you want to make a buck on that axle, I know people that have made lots of money on parts over there. You might get lucky and get $450 off of CL . . .

You can always come back here if you want to sell it for what it is worth to a NAXJA member. Maybe you spent $175 - $200 for the axle, $20 an hour for your time, $10 for gas and $5 for beer . . . maybe you could sell it for $250? Hard to say when you find geared and locked 44's with after market axles for $500 - $600.

Or maybe up in Chico 44's are hard to find and you will get someone up there is in need?

i was under the impression that they were alot harder to find i looked for a while and could never find one and i dont want to be known on the forum as a scam artist that is certainly not the case

i do have it on craiglist and a few other forums but since i have been on the jeep forums i havent seen one for sale so i thought it was a fair price guess i was wrong im gonna give it a while on craigslist and the other sites then ill prolly lower the price

i didnt mean to step on any toes i was just mislead prolly didnt help that im the new guy with a handful of posts lol the forum is awesome and yeah if i went to $250 your cost break down would be pretty accurate so i realize the $400 was a lil out there my bad but ima try and sell it local if it doesnt go ill repost with a lower price or keep for a spare hope yall understand

People try to make a buck on everything in the Jeep world. Some people tend to take this too far and think that they can make a killing reselling junk here on NAXJA.

To be honest, this isn't craigslist or ebay. We don't auction off items here to the highest bidder, and you didn't win the lottery finding a D44 for cheap at pick-n-pull. I can appreciate wanting to make a buck or two on your recent purchase but maybe you should try your "price it high and let them talk me down" deal on craigsist. Posting these type of deals here will inevitably turn out much like this thread.

Maybe the non-members around this forum need to understand something. The Sierra Chapter is a bit of a family, and we won't let our family get taken advantage of. Be it selling something for too much, crappy parts, vehicles that won't pass smog, or not following through with the deal you made. All these things will bring out the best (or worst depending on your perspective) of our little part of this club.

No harm, no foul there nismo5. You are new and need to learn what NAXJA means to the members who support the club.

I don't blame you for asking $400, I've seen plenty sell in that range. Get what you can, and like you said, people are free to offer less.

What a bunch of cheap bastards.......... :twak:
