I assume its pretty straight forward. I've worked on my D44 on the dodge with the sealed bearings, are the XJs the same pretty much? Just wondering if anyone has any special techniques / recommendations when changing them - thanks

I don't have much play - maybe 1/4" if that so I am in no rush yet. The driver side concerns me more - not much play but the wheel doesn't seem to spin very free when its jacked up.

Tech questions get more of a response in the tech areas, but to answer the question:
yep, same basic design as the dodge unit bearings.
get some scrificial bolts, m12x100mm or so and use those to beat the unit bearing out.
you'll need a 13mm 12point socket for the bolts, and a 36MM socket for the stub shaft.

lol - well its sitting in the garage since its still not titled thats why I am in no rush - and yeah I forgot I should have put it in the tech section. Thanks for the replies.

i don't care what anyone says,a sledge hammer will be the best bet.undo the 3 knuckle bolts and the big 36 mm nut,put in 2wd and rotate the hub while pounding it.it will come out in 10-20 whacks.
