Currie Steering question

I just upgraded to 35s (ironically with all the trouble they cause it might be a downgrade :lecture:) and I realize the need for better steering. I already have a zj tie rod which I just bought new. Now my weak link is the draglink (specifically the adjustment sleeve I presume). Can I use my zj tie rod in conjunction with a Currie draglink? This comes down to will the hole in the Currie drag link fit the Tzj tie rod or is it bigger?

Better off selling the ZJ tie rod and using the complete currie steering. The Currie stuff makes the Zj tie rod look tiny. It has huge tie rod ends and huge links.

Not going to lie the Currie steering is BEEFYYYYYYYYY! Friend has it......awesome steering without any modifications required to your knuckles. Although if you want the bigger tierod ends you can go with the JCR 1-ton steering but then you will have to do some reaming to accept the larger tie rod ends.

Bad thing about the Currie is that you cannot do over the knuckle on the passenger side, just on the driver side, because it is an inverted Y steering, not an inverted T like the JCR steering.

Will it fit what? An XJ? yes...as greenmachine said, using your ZJ tie rod would be taking a step back - the currie tie rod is bigger/beefier...

Not sure what else you're asking...? :dunno:

Well the zj tie rod is still much beefier than stock and I would rather purchase the draglink first and then if I feel like I need a bigger tie rod I can upgrade when necessary.

But just to clarify, the zj tie rod will in fact fit the currie draglink (ie the hole is the right size)?

I'm not sure - can you even buy the currie draglink seperately?

Yeah i think you can buy it separately... Because if the TRE on the axle end of the draglink goes bad the whole draglink needs to be replaced. But as Ashy said, I think they use their own tie rods ends so Im not sure if it will fit or not.

From Currie's web site:
Description: This is the 1 1/4" forged alloy steel drag link only out of the Currie Currectlync® heavy duty tie rod kit. This unit features an oversized 1 1/8" threaded adjuster, giant clamps, and threaded ball joint end at the pitman arm end, and it provides up to 200% more strength than the original equipment drag link. This unit will only work as a replacement part for the Currie system - it may not be used as in conjunction with any stock tie rod parts. This unit is rated at 200% stronger than than the stock part.

I'm pretty positive I've put a stock tie rod on the Currie drag link when I've fragged the Currie tie rod. No reason why not, the taper size is the same.

you do make a good point... it will probably fit, just wont be as strong (obviously)

I ran an RE tie rod on my curry drag link for a long time with no problem. I am pretty sure the RE rod uses stock tie rod ends.
