Ok, just cross posting this incase any of my Naxja bretheren want to join in.
This is the 3rd annual Country Fried Weekend. It was started a few years ago by some folks from the Expedition Portal, as just a winter time -get out in the woods and socialize - sort of thing. Its not a wheeling trip, although we usually do some trail riding. Its more of a hang out by the camp fire with friends and family, and BS about whatever.
We also have a huge potluck style dinner on Saturday night. Everyone makes a dish of their choosing, and shares it with the rest. Since the first event, a fried Turkey has been the 'norm' for kicking off the feast, and I have been passed that torch this year. I will be frying a turkey, and I think I am making some seasoned fries as well.... (it is called country FRIED weekend afterall)
This is very much a family event, so bring the kids, bring the wives. We do enjoy a few adult beverages around the fire, but try to keep it civil.
Its a really good time, in the middle of nowhere, and its a good opportunity to meet some like minded folks, and see some very cool rigs. (Unimogs, etc)
We hold it in the same place every year, at the end camping spot in the Jones Creek area in Northern Georgia near Ellijay/Dahlonega. It goes from Friday to Sunday, but many folks come up only for the Saturday - Sunday portion, and some only come for a day trip.
Directions and info can be found in the EXPO thread.
