Coppenger Cove Ride

I was the smallest (I think) out there with open/open on 31s and didn't get some of the places that the others did. I saw a lot from the sidelines...which was ok by me. I was pretty pleased with the way my Jeep handled on this run. Outside of a mild shakedown run at LBL, this was her first real test.

A lot of similar ones to my shots were already posted so, here are a couple of shots taken out my drivers window on the trail, as well as some of the local wildlife we met...and a couple cool shots (I think) of my decals.

Enjoy

This was my first ride along - and I had a blast (even with the carnage and downpour LOL). Thanks for letting me take the co-pilot seat Tyler!

Sorry I'm a bit late getting the pictures loaded here on our SmugMug account. But I said I'd get them up on Sunday (and it IS technically still Sunday). They're uploading as we speak (full size - you can always click the picture to blow it up and see all of the gory details LOL). Enjoy!

Looks like you guys had fun. I would share some pictures from Hannibal Rocks but my f'n camera got stolen! :smsoap:

looks like tyler broke on sherwin williams. thats an awesome trail, i ran that one in the rain this past memorial day in my jeep. dad lost his fuel pump in that same spot and took the same exit as you via fuel being pumped into his throttlebody. from his windshield washer fluid tank. thats quite the exit. but its the only way out other than keep going.

btw the ol xj walked that entire trail without pulling cable or having to be spotted

Geet pics!

I need some bigger tires. It is bad when you have 24 inchs of breakover and still hang the belly pan.

Actually Sherwin Williams wasn't bad at all even without the front locker. It was dry and the truck does a pretty good job at keeping the tires on the ground, so it really wasn't an issue until the rear broke. Once that happened I was basically 1 wheel drive, and in the front, which wasn't the best combo for dragging my heavy ass truck up that hill! Haha. I have officially started the repairs, just gotta get Dan to come over and give me a hand. I hope to have it all fixed up today as long as I can find a rear driveshaft. I really don't have $300 to spend on a Tom Woods. And honestly, even if it was a woody shaft, I don't think it would've held up anyway. That's a long shaft (roughly 5 feet long) and when you set the whole truck down on it against a sharp rock ledge, bad things happen.

We were going to do Parson's Pass and 1410, but when I broke in Sherwin Williams we ended up going out on that side of the mountain just to get it home.

Oh, meant to mention for the people that didn't stay for dinner... the surprise was that I gave out (4) $50 gift cards for RSOR Labor... And the tickets were free.

I never got to the cave to eat lunch. I couldn't wait.

we would have loved to stay but 2.5 hrs of sleep the night before and a whole day of wheeling meant we needed to at least get home before midnight ;)

Don't worry Doug, you guys weren't the only ones that didn't show. Still had a nice group though!

My dad and I had a blast on this trip...
I'll try to get some pics up, when I find time; busy helping tyler and keeping up with the other daily needs...

Only carnage I have is a weird clunking noise that only occurs on left turns, slow or fast... unit bearings check fine, pulled front driveshaft... still there :dunno: gonna double check control arms and tracbar again...

Doug, the burgers were fantastic man (Bob cooked them to perfection), thanks again for supplying them, really sorry you guys couldnt stay to eat em with us. It was a very late night, but well worth it.

Thanks again to Tyler for throwing the ride together and allowing us to use the shop to get our eat on. The RSOR gift certificates were a very generous gesture as well, I will put my bumper brackets to use very soon!

Had a blast...

Had a blast in spite of the carnage, 2 front axle joints and some more custom bend on my tie rod. I know it had to be frustrating for some waiting around for those of us on sherwin williams that were there for hours when it should have been more like 30 minutes.
Maybe next time we can get out of the trails in time for everyone to come to dinner.
Doug the burgers were great! First time I can remember in while having burgers grilled with no salt or pepper that tasted that good. I've never in my life grilled that many burgers that size, glad they turned out alright, or I got lucky either one.
The apple awesomeness was pretty dang good too, but I gotta give it up for Tyler's granny's baked beans....wow those were great!

Waiting around when there is beakage is part of the game. I went straight home in Dalton Ga unloaded my jeep and was prepaired to come back and haul somebody else back home.

Next time the group is that big we should break up into at least two groups or three if there is enough folks that know thier way around to area to lead.

I ride with alot of different clubs/boards but the Naxja group is next to the top list for best grooup of folks that I have riden with.

Dan where are the pics?

I had a blast, people were great, thank you to Tyler for helping me build my rock solid XJ that had no carnage WOOT! and his grandmother makes the most awesome beans you have ever put in your mouth!! Thank you Doug for burgers they were flippin great, and to Bob for the perfection grilling, and the apple awesomeness was well awesome. DAN wheres the pics lol
