I think the OP has the idea right lol.
Chop off the RE upper links and leave the lowers alone. Get a link bracket for the axle side, weld a link bracket to the crossmember (both on passenger side) and run a straight tube and some johnny joints. Done.
This is the bracket my Poly kit came with for the axle side upper. Could get the same bracket, but shorter to weld to the crossmember.
