I've a '92 XJ I-6 4dr with an overhead console. This console has a compass and temperature display. It worked up to a few months ago, then died. There is no display.
I had the circuit board out yesterday. Circuit is powered since the console interior lights work and they receive power via the circuit board. There are two major ICs on the circuit. One from Motorola and one from TI. The Mot www site doesn't recognize the part number, and the TI site says the TI part is obsolete and doesn't show any data on it.
I suspect the power supply that drives the display has died. Without any further info on the circuit I can't test for this or any other problem.
I'm afraid that the dealer will want a fortune for this board and what I'll get is something that was made 12 years ago and may not work very long. This lets out the junkyard also.
Is the board used in later year XJ? Maybe I can buy a later version and install it.
Is there available somewhere a schematic that describes the board? I doubt that this sort of thing will be in the FSM.
I've kinda given up hope of reparing/replacing this board, but you never know...
Thanks!
