How did we get here? We were warned, but we didn't listen.

Former Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson warned about what was coming in a 1966 speech where he talked about a meeting he once had with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev:

FORMER SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE EZRA TAFT BENSON: As we talked face to face, he indicated that my grandchildren would live under communism.
After assuring him that I expected to do all in my power to assure that his and all other grandchildren would live under freedom, he arrogantly declared in substance: "You Americans are so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright; but we'll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you'll finally wake up and find that you already have communism. We won't have to fight you; we'll so weaken your economy, until you fall like overripe fruit into our hands."

He knew firsthand what was happening and documents now show that FDR had used the Department of Agriculture as his own communist recruiting station.

Henry Wallace was secretary; he was a progressive supported by the Communist Party USA. He never denounced any communist support he received. FDR and Wallace decided they needed to help farmers, who were in dire financial crisis.
Their idea: Artificially raise prices. They slaughtered 6 million pigs, plowed up cotton fields and destroyed other crops. This in the middle of the worst depression we've ever had. Is it any wonder socialism and communism end up with people starving to death?

ADD Moment: Hugo Chavez is seizing control of the food in Venezuela. And now there's 80,000 tons of rotting food in warehouses.

But pay no attention to that, because communism is cool. This is why we need to know the history or else we're doomed to repeat it.

There's the stuff you need to know, on how we got here. But really where are we? Is what these people wanted to do a joke? Have they failed?

What did the Communist Party USA say they wanted to do in 1963? Here's a few that stand out:

No. 3: Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength
No. 15: Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States
No. 17: Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks
No. 18: Gain control of all student newspapers
No. 19: Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack
No. 20: Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions
No. 21: Gain control of key positions in radio, TV and motion pictures
No. 27: Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion
No. 28: Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state"
No. 29: Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis
No. 30: Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man"
No. 36: Infiltrate and gain control of more unions
No. 37: Infiltrate and gain control of big business
No. 40: Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

This was the to-do list for the communists in the 1960s.

Compare that to the U.S. Constitution — which one are we following?

What does the Communist Party USA look like in 2010? Look at their website.....or the current events unfolding before your eyes.

The Communist Party stands for the interests of the American working class and the American people. It stands for our interests in both the present and the future. Solidarity with workers of other countries is also part of our work. We work in coalition with the labor movement, the peace movement, the student movement, organizations fighting for equality and social justice, the environmental movement, immigrants rights groups and the health care for all campaign.

But to win a better life for working families, we believe that we must go further. We believe that the American people can replace capitalism with a system that puts people before profit - socialism.

We are rooted in our country's revolutionary history and its struggles for democracy. We call for "Bill of Rights" socialism, guaranteeing full individual freedoms.

Until we win enough support to change the system, communists call for radical reforms under capitalism. We call for nationalization of the banks, railroads, and industries like steel and auto.

Everyone who wants to work should be guaranteed a job or get unemployment payments until she/he can find a job. We say put the unemployed to work at union wages on massive public works programs to rebuild our cities, provide affordable housing for the homeless, build mass transit, and clean up the environment!

Our outlook is based on the social science of Marxism-Leninism. We study history, politics and economics in order to change the world.

xjeeper, have you ever red the bookLooking Backwards kind of on topic with this post... at least what I read.

Its by edward bellamy, its old but interesting. A really cool professor made us read it for a class about history of "utopian" societys. But it deals with the little by little thing.

Great reference Kid. I've read some exerpts before but will read it in it's entirety.

The following FAQ will help clarify a few facts:

Q: What is the Socialist International?

A: It is the worldwide organization of socialist, social democratic and labor parties. It currently brings together 131 political parties and organizations from all continents. Its origins go back to the early international organizations of the labor movement of the last century.* It has existed in its present form since 1951, when it was re-established at the Frankfurt Congress. They are now headquartered in London, England.

* In 1864, representatives of English and French industrial workers founded the International Workingmen's Association in London. Karl Marx, who was living in London at the time, became the First International's dominant figure. Marx's doctrines were revived in the 20th century by Russian revolutionary Vladimir Ilich Lenin, who developed and applied them – and we all know that what was started as a labor movement ended up as the biggest totalitarian/communist state, i.e., the USSR.

Q: What is the Democratic Socialists of America [DSA]?

A: It is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International. Their website is http://www.dsausa.org/dsa.html

Q: What are seven principles behind what the DSA's calls it's "Progressive Challenge?"
Dignified Work

Environmental Justice

Economic Redistribution

Democratic Participation

Community Empowerment

Global Non-Violence

Social Justice.

Never mind their soothing-sounding leftist doublespeak like 'Environmental Justice' (whatever that is supposed to mean) or the soft & fuzzy 'Global Non-Violence' (a euphemism for unilateral disarmament) — the DSA's self-declared principle of 'Economic Redistribution' clearly shows where these folks are coming from and exactly where they plan to take America.

Q: How many members of the U.S. Congress are also members of the DSA?

A: Seventy!

Q: How many of the DSA members sit on the Judiciary Committee?

A: Eleven: John Conyers [Chairman of the Judiciary Committee], Tammy Baldwin, Jerrold Nadler, Luis Gutierrez, Melvin Watt, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Steve Cohen, Barbara Lee, Robert Wexler, Linda Sanchez [there are 23 Democrats on the Judiciary Committee of which eleven, almost half, are now members of the DSA].

Q: Who are these members of Congress?

A: See the listing below

I live in CA-06. Had already decided not to vote for Woolsey ( I jumped on the anti-incumbent bandwagon) but this info seals the deal.

Interesting to note that Senator Boxer & Congresswoman Pelosi did NOT make that list. Reading some posts here you would think these two were the devil incarnate.

I'd say they're just smart enough to publicly ally themselves with a movement that many Americans would find to be highly un-American.

List or no list, their actions mirror the Socialist agenda, by their fruits ye shall know them. The Democrats lost their party to the Socialists several elections ago, the Republicans are not too far off.

I think that was #15 on the list of the Communist Party USA: "Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States"
