Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Sitting in traffic right now....left work an hour and ten minutes ago and have only made it 5-6 miles so far. **** Colorado.

We just need to convince the crappy drivers that come from other states, that Colorado is like a Minnesota winter for 8 months of the year.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Can't decide if I am going to trim the minimum to clear the rubber at full stuff or trade the stock headlights for some smaller LED lights and push the axle 3 inches forward . I guess if I do not like it I can just get a new header and swap it back .

It is already a trailer queen! :D

Wow!

I remember Jim Grooms saying people in San Diego call the park-n-ride "the pick-a-part."

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Was finishing up the last few welds of the day and started getting intermittent pin holes for no reason then intermittent burn back , so checked roll tension and drive assembly after killing Two tips back to back I felt a vibe while feeding and the wire feed would slow during this , so either my liner is clogged or it got damaged...lol...I'm hoping it is just clogged and hitting it with some compressed air gets it going because there is no way to replace one on weekends ...Maybe wipe the dust off the Ironman 250 and see I can squeeze the rig into the garage ?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Crazy day!! This upstairs, next door!!

http://www.kktv.com/content/news/BR...-in-northeast-Colorado-Springs-414750743.html

I walked out back to the patio and saw a strange figure in the trees who asked me to go inside. I asked him who he was. He said I'm a police officer, we have a situation here. I nodded and went inside. Later, I looked out the garage door and saw the street filled with police cars. Policer officers had their guns drawn all pointing at the same area. Must have been 20 police officers in the area.

It's normally a quiet area!!

I appreciate what law enforcement does! No gunshots fired.

We used to take 2 people and hold the whole cable assy taught, then slap it against the ground few times. Blow out with air and repeat. Gets a lot of that crap out of the liner.

Sounds like it was still quiet just populated .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Confused...I bought my oil and filter for my Dodge at CarQuest in Conifer today rather than Orielly's.I got my usual 3 Gallons of Rotella T6 but unlike Oriellys they do not put the oil filters out on the shelf they are a behind counter item , So I asked for my usual Mobil-1 filter , and they do not carry it so I ask for their best house brand and one guy walks off and proceeds to laugh at me , which I did not see the funny in the question , but the filter the guy brought out looked cheap and shorter than the usual Mobil , so I ask him how their house brand compared to the Mobil , and he says " this is much better" ..."the Nobel is made by fram"...So this confused me as I have never heard this and have always been told that the Mobil was the best filter . I never had issue with Fram on my Jeeps always a new ph16 at 3000 , but is there any truth to this clerks claim ?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Mobil 1 is a good filter, Wix Premium is a good filter. Fram lost a ton of consumer confidence after people started cutting open filters and comparing them.

If that counter guy can show you dissected filters to show his is better, he might be on the right track.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I won't touch anything but a premium K&N oil filter with the silicone anti drain back valve that actually works, the higher case pressure rating (thicker can) and the socket head fitting on top that makes oil changes a piece of cake....

No one else has all that.

Fram has been known to throw the paper filter media and cardboard ends into the engine block and destroy engines.

I have not looked at the latest studies in 10 years, but here is one site with many K&N comparisons to other filters....

He stated the Mobil-1 is a rebadged Fram and without cutting them up I guess it could be , but I highly doubt it . I should have offered to have him go to oriellys down the road buy both cut them in half and if he is right I would pay for both and take Two of his house brands ... I have no idea why they carry all non branded house brand stuff , but yet carry the name brand fluids . I like the store it is privately owned not a chain , but I love knowing the brand of part I am using I know it could still be junk , but with a blank no name package I feel like Brad Pitt asking " What's in the box"

Re: The Colorado BS thread

At least get the PH8. More volume, greater filter area. I've never had a problem with Fram, but the Mobil 301 is what I usually get. My Ram gasser, minivan (Chrysler), Jeep, and even my diesel Jetta can all use the same filter, but the van gets the PH16 or equivalent because it's shorter and that's the low point under the engine.

The ph16 is the filter for the 4.0 I never go cheap on the 6.7 CTD filter or Fluid I will on the 4.0 but I can get donor motor for $500 ...not so much with Cummins . I think I will start picking up my filters in bulk at Rocky Mountain Cummins they are Baldwins and cheaper than the parts store then I can just buy my oil every 3k ...lol...5k when lazy .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Silly wheel adapter lug nut question . I have a nice set of adapter/spacers I bought from a member and I had put the rears on awhile ago but not the front and it never crossed my mind that they were for 5/8th studs ...LOL...until I went to put them on today to check for clearances for my cutting plans . The question would be I used open ended 9/16th lugs made the same as the lugs supplied with the spacer to bolt it to the hub instead of the 5/8ths lugs . If anyone is familiar with how a lug seats on the adapter it has recessio the lug nut seats into and the supplied lugs are tapered to fo into this , but the lugs I used will seat in as well but are maybe just a hair smaller...it seems it should be fine since they center on the hub and it seems no different than the mounting difference the wheels would see in stud difference...lol...I don't know I guess for trailer driven rig the consequences are minimal and the least of my worries with my driving style .
