Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Its autonotive grade paint batched at an autonotive paint shop loaded into an aerosol can...sam mother fn paint they put in a gun ...spray max is a 2 part isocyanate cured clear in a 2 part can in either 4-1 mix or a few others depending on temp you work at...it is the same stuff you soray out of a gun in a fan spray 2 part can...you do not have a clue and are talking out your ass.
.

While the spray can stuff is pretty close, it does not include the hardener which may change the look and durability a bit. If it did, it would catalyze right in the can. I have used the spray cans to do a lot of replacement mirrors and small parts on cars with great luck. It would be more than adequate for a rock crawler/non show car.

Wrongo...the can has a membrane in it you puncture that and it mixes the catalyst sone are isocyanate newer are not it is available in diffetent ratios most common 4-1 ...this is exactly the sane as a body shop ...cured...not solvent based ...drying...type the 2k means 2 part it the sane 2 parts mixed in a shop and will cure the same so that means a can only has a pot life of about 24hrs after the membrane is broke an mixed...they even sell reducer in a can to spot blend edges ...like I said you can not tell the difference from my paibt work on my pickup vs the factory it is electric blue pearl...pb5...the spray max really left alnost no peel the imnage reflection was good before I wet sanded it I only usrd 2500 them megiuars numer 10 by hand I removed the fenders the badges and prepped the base put down 3 2k coats of urethane high build forgot I had not picked up my paint so I had to seal it in case it rained I used some clear the next week I removed the fenders wwashed them with dial soap sand scratched them with 400 and washed it let it dry them proceeded to paibt them in my 80 degree reefer box while at the ta truck stop when done with the base I waited a few minutes then hit them with 2k clear waited 3 hours and installed them washed them and got ahead of myself and installed the new cummins badges before wet sanding so if you look in the niddle of the cummins big C you can tell it has a bit more peel than rest of fender I could have went to town removing all peel ,but factory paint has peel so a perfect immage will not match factory .

I've seen the paint in a can stuff, even with automotive grade paint.

While they do "work", they're very hard to get much in the way of great looking results (not that mine are anywhere near perfect).

With those, keeping the overlaps wet, and getting enough on seems to be a real chore. That, and in reality spray cans don't go very far...so I'd have to buy quite a few of them.

In reality, one I have the main stuff, it's just the paint and primer that get expensive. The reason my paint is so much is because it's a red, and it's a metallic pearl = $$$.

Will I ever do this again? See below :D

Well, FINALLY got the door panels and hood painted. Due to limitations in room at the time, it took ~3x longer than it normally would have.

I started wet sanding the primer around 4pm, and finished putting the last coat of clearcoat on the door panels around 2:30AM.

I had to do one group at a time (either hood, or the two door panels).

I was painting them laying flat, instead of hanging to help with runs since I'm a super amatuer

They're not perfect by a long shot. Kind of hard to do when you have bugs from every nook and cranny trying to land in it, as well as normal dust, etc. I did try and make a paint booth, but nothing like what I did for the other panels.

IF I ever do this again, I'm either doing something like a quick single stage, or getting a carport to make as a booth

Also, I'll do it when there is NO time crunch like I have now.

A non metallic like ny truck is probably going to work better than a metalic with flakes in it out of a can...I am un decided on pulling out ny paint gun and doing paint on my jeep after everything is done...long time before that...or doibg sone monstaliner it is uv stable autonotive grade not like painting a truck in bed liber that turns to crap...I think the monstaliner will win it should last longer and I can skip some work since it ahould have excellent filling quality unlike paint which has...none...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Been looking at how many full hydro cylinders have been moubted I am not sure but I may have wasted my time setting up the tube at a nice high angle tilting backwards rather than what I see which is mostly just sticking straight out paralell to the ground I also noticed the tie in is uaually only 3 points ...each end and one middle I thought that would bend if hit hard ???...anywho I just noticed the majority of hydro mounting I'm looking at now is far less involved than what I made and am thinking I over thought the mount and spent a weekend building what I could have done in a few hours ...lol...I did test the moubt by jackibg the front up and droppibg it mount first onto a fixed object to simulate failing an obstacle and droppibg nose heavy onto the moubt...lol...the 60 will have to bend in two I think b4 this mount fails .

Can you use proper punctuation?

Nobody wants to play that game with you, so, you are playing that game with yourself. See how I did that?

I can help you with that thin skin. Sadly, I am preoccupied at the present time. If you make the Adopt-a-Road run at the end of the month, I will avail myself to your condition.

All I see is an offer to drink and play with yourselves. Or did I misread that??? :roflmao:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Thanks Matt!

It flows like a soap opera, but here goes:

The property owner (et all.) started a business and bought some property to operate that business.

They sold the business to a corporation, and retained the property.

The corporation did what corporations do: They changed name once, then, morph into a separate entity, changing the name again.

The property owner did what property owners do: Raise the rent to reflect the market value.

The newly-morphed entity told the property owner to pound sand.

The property owner told the newly-morphed entity to pound sand, and vacate the premises.

That was last week.

This week, the newly-morphed entity told us motivated, hard working, committed, bottom-feeding, grimy, peons to pound sand...and have a great life!

It has been a wild ride since the end of March! We have been closing, wait, staying open, wait...

Most of the newer hires have moved on.

One of the middle-timers moved to Kansas for a (well deserved) bump up the ladder.

Today, we laid off 60% of my co-workers who remain. Among them are people who:
Trained me.
Advocated for me.
Worked with me.
Sweat with me.
Bled with me.
Argued with me.
Cried with me.
Counseled me.
Mentored me.
Groomed me.
Made me better.

I will miss those jerks!

By this time next week I'll know if I am fixing box cars or dismantling the facility.

Thanks for listening.

We'll just wait and see what George makes of that. :D

Ouch. My previous place, where a lot of friends still are, is just shutting the doors on Friday. Ritchie brothers are going Friday night to start hauling the equipment off for auction. They found out today. Sucks for a lot of them who were banking on that place.

Should possibly have all posts proof read by the resident English Major to avoid these future miss understandings because right now I have a bottle of lotion a sock and a half empty bottle of "MD" 2020 , and due to poor sentence structure ...LoL
