Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I'm here in Danville VA..... Its currently 5:30 pm and its been 96 degrees with 70% humidity all day.... Had to use the windshield wipers this morning because the air was so wet....... But it was so worth it. Took a '14 SRT 300C to 125 mph on the back straight of the 3 mile road course at Virginia International Raceway. Got to thrash on Chargers, Challengers and Grands as well........ This race track is awesome. The 300C is a true wolf in sheep's clothing. Stupid -level fun was had.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Dear sweet baby Jesus....... Friends don't do this to friends. This guy needs to have his welder and fab tools taken away and a perma-ban from ever fabbing again. This just boggles the mind......

The fabber told hid buddy he could build him some custom LCA's. Apparently he wants him dead?

The lower control arm is bad enough, but look at the upper!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Well, at least it looks like he used galvanized pipe nipples, ya know, so they won't rust. =-O

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I'm rebuilding another set of carbs for my motorcycle and want to replace the old screws. I need 16 M4 pan head screws and 8 M5 ones. I've been to Lowes and 2 different smaller hardware stores (ACE was one of them) and everything I'm finding has really large heads. Anyone know where I could find some smaller ones? In stainless?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Go online to McMaster.com and Grainger.com. Grainger has outlets around the country, but they want you to be a company if you go in to their outlets.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Huh. Never heard of them. There's 3 stores in Springs? Thanks Mike.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

ya there is a few in the springs. or maybe check whistler bearing. That is off cascade and fillmore area, there is a Fastenal a little further east on fillmore from there as well

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I'll second Whisler... Great place.

probably no weaker than they were before modified , but most Jeeps with beefy aftermarket arms are still running stock control arm brackets on the lca axle side an uca frame side , so looking at the typical lifted xj with aftermarket arms vs this and I see the same death trap since those sheet metal mounts are going to let your axle run out from under your jeep before these ugly arms do .

Ha...ok guy.

Tell ya what, we'll "weld" up some arms just like that and let you drive it as a DD since they're just as good right?

While we're at it, why don't we just make the lugs hand tight...since torquing them to spec is overrated as well

Someone should take a class in basic materials science, maybe some statics as well as dynamics...and how about we throw in common sense 101? :D

Dood.... whut?

Did you see the rust perforations on those control arms? Particularly the UCA? The pipe welded in won't break, but what they're welded to have rusted to half the thickness they were from new. Add to that the increased leverage from having lengthened them..... disaster.

like I said they are probably no weaker than they were before they were modified...i'm not saying it's a good build or would it be under my rig ...i just don't see the tube stertch idea as being any weaker than a stock un modded control arm ...as you stated they are rusted through , so they were shyt before modified.

I would not drive a Jeep on rusted out stock arms to start , but these arms modified are no weaker than before modified...

Torque spec of a lug nut and this have what to do with each other ???

Pretty basic here Einstein you are starting with a thin sheet metal control arm ---stamped steel---cutting it in half and inserting some tube probably is full length of the arm and fully seam welded the lenght of the tube with stock sleeve over it , so without your fancy book learning i'd bet cash that arm is as strong as it was before modified ...now I would be more than willing to cut a set of stock arms in half and slug them with some tube and bet you they are atleast as strong as stock if you got a jeep to put them in i'd even drive it ...yes with my own welds...i would probably plate the outside fully and smooth it out so no one could tell i had these abotions under my jeep I'm very a sensitive and hate being laughed at , so yes:bawl: ...I cry a lot ...:bawl:

lug nuts are very inportant to be tight ...I don't think iI would let you put on my lug nuts.............

I had a whole logical response typed out explaining why...but decided it just wasn't worth it.

Sometimes you just can't get through to people...as they seem to have an inferiority complex.

By the way...those of us with our "fancy book learning" are the reason you have those axles, that jeep to wheel, your boggers, etc.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I have a press and would love to show you that stamped steel is stronger than that shit tube or conduit welded halway around the top.

How do you know what the material is you only know it's tube and you have no idea how it's inside that arm that is cut in half used to sleeve the tube. And as I will point out again the stock arm was rusted through So I doubt this is any weaker than it was before .
