Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I hear ya, ft fun is definitely one of those banana belt spots withe the down sloping winds, but that 82 blizzard, like the more recent 2005 versions, was an upslope monster... I think you were warm and happy and forgot all about it.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I love blizzards. I tend to remember them, but, who knows. If I had a car at that time, it was a 71 Gremmy, that would have been fun in the snow.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Don't see no 1982 here, but I skimmed and I'm relatively blind. I remember 79. I had moved here from NM, and I was riding my bike to CSU in-between large piles of snow on the sides and middle of the street.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I can totally see you rockin the Gremlin, Fred. Groovy.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

One of the best $200 cars I ever owned. I just had to use bungee cords to keep the doors shut. :)

Re: The Colorado BS thread

'05 was pretty fun too. I was working in Houston wanting to come home for X-mas but the airport was closed as well as I-70 and I-25. I left in my 2wd pickup figuring I could find some back way in if needed. I had no problems until I hit the Tech Center, four lanes at 75mph turned to one big old mess.

I thought that one was bigger as far as snow fall but I guess the records say otherwise.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Anybody remember this storm? I was about ten and we played on the hill using trash bags for three days until we could walk to the hardware store in Golden for a sled.

I thought that was 1980. I had just bought a new 3.0L Chevy Citation. We had 36 inches of snow, then the wind started.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

There was a good one in '76 also. We had 30' drifts at the Apartment complex I was living in.

One poor sot had accidentally left one window slightly cracked open and his car was completely stuffed with snow.

When I opened to hood of my car, all that could be seen was a nice white covering with the impressions of the hood braces in it...

That was fun to clean out.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Thanksgiving weekend in '05 was when I quit smoking. A month later, we got some snow.

The dumper we had in '03 was notable, and gone in a week.

In '82 I was in another state, where the wind makes a six-foot drift from a six-inch snow. Fun times!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

wasn't 03 the back-to-back christmas storms? those were good ones...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Lots of us at work sharing photos and stories about Sgt. Baldwin, a couple of my favorites:

In his element. Training, instructing, having a blast doing it.

Back in the day when the Race -a- cop car was first built:

His funeral is Monday. Gonna be rough.

The big one in '03 was over spring break. Car ports were collapsing, ATVs were the only thing moving in my new neighborhood.

'05 was the back to back Christmas storms:

Does anyone here have any real world experience with Dry Saws? I've been on the fence about getting one. I like the fact that it doesn't produce any dust and I won't have to spend time grinding down edges prior to welding. My only concern is those blades are effing spensive!!!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Seen the framers use them for cutting metal studs and they work pretty good. Loud and kind of slow but like you say, no dust. The shavings however go all over just like an abrasive chop saw and are just as hot.
The old blades make great art pieces.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Troy, sorry to hear :( one of my pals from highschool is a cop in Virginia and his postings on facebook are sometimes a bit troubled. It worries me.

'10-'11 winter was the last brutal one we had up here. At one point the snow was up to my taint in the back yard, I could barely see any of the porch railings, and I tripped over a stack of 5 gallon pails I had left out standing upside down because they were completely buried. That was not the right winter to replace my roof during.

Go for it, then I can come over and use it.
