My bro-in-law has a Taco, and loves it, its a solid little truck, but I wanted something larger. I have a good friend with an 06 Frontier, and every time I've driven it I've been impressed with the power and the quailty of build at Nissan -- definitely not the same company they were in the 80's-90's.

I did my homework, and think I'll be happy. I test drove 05-09 F150's, Ram 1500's and Toyota Tundras. All were decent trucks, but honestly none felt as good as the Nissan. I had come to grips that I could only afford a 06-08 model with 75+ K on it, and then this beauty fell in my lap. Hopefully there will be no warranty-type issues, since I don't have one, but otherwise, I'm feeling really good about it.

My sole complaint, and it isn't much of one, is that the Titans come stock with dual exhaust from manifold to tailpipe, running through a single flowmaster-style welded muffler. There is some significant in-cabin drone (not rumble) from this fairly throaty design. I'll just turn up the Rockford Fosgate system and ignore it for now.

There is some significant in-cabin drone (not rumble) from this fairly throaty design. I'll just turn up the Rockford Fosgate system and ignore it for now.

Any recommendations on a quality whole home humidifier that is patched into our HVAC unit? I've been reading some mixed reviews on the Honeywell units they sell at HD.

Does anyone here have experience with one of these? It's so dry in here (9%) our wood floors are starting to bow.

Stay away from the Honeywell, look for an Aprilaire. I know somebody who can get you one from Johnstone supply if you are interested. I also know a guy who could install it for you as well. PM me if you are interested.

ya the 5.6 is a monster in those things. only thing I am worried about with the nissans I am looking at is the coolant/trans issues. but trying to avoid those years.
Any add on plans or just leaving stock?

Not much to add, but it will get a mild lift/leveling kit, 33-35s and the elec speedo adapter those will require. We'll see after that

I agree with COjeeper's recommendation. A couple years ago when he was still doing residential I managed to convince FrankZ to come to my place and do a whole bunch of work. He installed an Aprilaire unit, which is still working great. It's a simple enough install I would have done it myself if I wasn't already having more extensive work done.

I have been as well as the xterras. Just be careful on the early years of new body style. They had a bad radiator design that allows coolant in trans and cooks it. I know it effects the xterras from 05-07 I believe and I think the frontiers as well, but haven't looked too deep into the trucks. Although with new gig im taking itll be another month or two before I get a ride anyway. blah.

So what is 5.10a? I get the 5.10, I was a climber 40 years ago. Led out a 5.6 on Granite Mtn, AZ. 200 feet of exposure, easy climb but hanging out at the edge of infinity.

I've been looking for a while now. My Subie is at 281,000 now. At this point, I really feel like I gotta see it through to 300,000 before I even think about getting rid of it. Love that damn car.

Fred, now days more difficult climbs (like a 5.10) are graded as well. "a" routes are easier, "b" harder, "c" harder still, and "d" the hardest. If I recall...has to do with technological advances in equipment that have made routes established 30ish years ago easier to send now.

that is crazy. Im hoping with the new gig and if they pay me out on my truck ill be able to get either the x or the frontier in a 08 or newer option when I go to buy. we shall see. If I make the money my buddy down there is ill be alright lol

A modern way of breaking down grades within the higher level routes with a through d. Used on routes graded 5.10 and higher.

I keep contemplating selling the JK to get either a 4dr Tacoma or Frontier. Man I'd love the bed space, and the long travel IFS option would be freaking sweet.

I was considering a Tacoma, but the 05+ body style I think is hideous. and older styles don't have the room in them at all. the frontiers are rad and affordable

40 years ago did you even have a concept of 5.10? That should have been the time-frame where they used a closed scale where 5.9 was the hardest possible. 5.10s and up happened when they switched to an open ended scale, which as RiverFever mentioned was because of new technology making it possible to climb.
