Just over 48 hours -- removed all furniture, pulled the wet muddy floor, cleaned and dried the entire basement floor, bleached to kill any mold spores, reinstalled floor, moved all the furniture back in, and voila! we are no longer homeless. i'm beat, and going camping (i.e. voluntary homelessness...:eyes
Oh, and big thanks to JD for some short notice dirt work to ensure it doesn't happen again! :cheers:

Got started on my smoker build yesterday. Sold the 8' trailer that I had originally made and built this stand out of donated stock that Flores, JD, and Fred gave me. Thanks again guys! This rig is going to be HEAVY. This is all .25" wall.
Started on the Warming chamber. This is a 100lbs propane tank that Mike (Hypoid) sold me over the winter. Got the door cut and welded on the outer support brace.
Just to give an idea of how big this thing is going to be. This warming tank is 52" tall and it will hang from the right side, furthest from the firebox on the left.
The main chamber is a 100 gallon tank and the Firebox will be a double layered/insulated design with .25" inner frame and a .1875 outer layer.
Still need to build the firebox. Weighed the materials to build the box (not including the welding wire) and it's 280lbs! After that I have to do the main chamber.
Keeping that design a secret for now.

And flushed out with a garden hose, and left to dry in the summer sun, and sealed up for 8 or 9 of those 70 years. I hope you get that thing good and HOT before you even think about processing food with it.

The whole setup is getting sandblasted once I'm done with it, but yeah, I run my smokers through a few heat cycles to season it before we cook on them.
Believe it or not, that tank still had propane vapor in it. My gas leak detector went bonkers when I took the valve off. It took 4-5 more flushes with Dawn to completely get it all out.
And even then...I think my ass ate my underwear once I started cutting into it.
And flushed out with a garden hose, and left to dry in the summer sun, and sealed up for 8 or 9 of those 70 years. I hope you get that thing good and HOT before you even think about processing food with it.

Just signed up for the Welding Technologies class at Lincoln College in Denver. My Father showed me how to MIG/ARC/TIG weld when I was about 13 years old and I've been self-taught ever since. Even though I don't weld for a living it can't hurt that I acquire another certified skillset. And the class was very reasonable $$$ wise.
I'm a little intimidated that I'm going to be in there with a bunch of kids that can weld better than me. lol
