Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I took my son out today to practice on the dirt bike, and we also got him a pair of boots afterwards. Next up will be some actual pants, but for now though I think he is getting it. Damn near brings a tear to my eye I'm so proud and excited about it.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Forgot to post up about it, but on Wed I went up towards Estes Park to grab another tag. The tag was Lily Lake and as usual the ride up HWY-7 towards Estes Park was a beautiful and enjoyable one.

I then dropped into Estes Park and was planning to ride HWY-34 into Loveland and catch up with my friend for lunch. He was supposed to have been home the day before after riding out to Las Vegas for a week with some other friends. I gave him a ring and it turned out he had decided to stay that night in Black Hawk, so I grabbed a quick bite to eat, turned around, and started riding towards Black Hawk.

While in Nederland I dropped the new tag off here.

We met up on the road about halfway between Rollinsville and Blackhawk. We gathered up and headed back to Estes Park where the group of us (my buddy Jim and his his wife plus another friend/co-worker Dickie with his wife, both on Electra-Glides) sat down a the Estes Brewery for a drink and some chit chat.

Last night my frame guards came in so I installed them this morning while getting ready for another ride. Once again I'll be surrounded by Electra-Glides as my buddy Jim and another co-worker/friend Kevin will be joining me for a trip down to Canon City and back, we're on the hunt for another tag.

I will admit that riding around on my wife's little Shadow, plus constantly being surround by my friends who mostly ride HD baggers really has me contemplating going the way of 'Merica and selling off the 950 Adventure so I can get myself a cruiser too. Part of this is because I'm already wanting to get a lighter weight enduro (like a WR250R or KLX250S) for trail riding as I don't have the experience/confidence to take my big 950 out on the trails. I just know I'd probably regret it though as this 950 Adventure has been great and is loads of fun to ride. I'm at 1800 miles on it since I bought jut over a month ago and will be well over 2000 miles after today. Its basically the bike I've truly learned to ride on as the KLR was so short lived. I also know I have severe ADD when it comes to vehicles of any type and am trying to make sure I don't let it get the best of me as it has in the past. In the mean time however, its time to ride. Thanks to Obama my friends and I are all on furlough today and will be enjoying our bikes all the more.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Holy hell what a long day, but a sweet ride as well.

We made it down to Canon City without any issues taking E470 around Denver and HWY 83 into the CO Springs. Then we shot down I-25 and hopped onto HWY 115 into Canon City. After a very enjoyable twisty road we found the tag.

We cam back the same way but ran into a lot of wind and kept catching the tail end of a rain storm. Once we made it through CO Springs we hauled donkey up HWY 83 (I might have seen triple digits on the speedometer at one or two points) and then back along E470. By the time I got home I had gone roughly 330 miles and averaged 45mpg between my two fill ups. I'm also just shy of 2200 miles on the bike since I bought it about 38 days ago. Not bad for a rookie rider.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

What are these "tags" you keep referencing? Kind of like geocaching for bikers?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yella...yesterday and today I fished the South Platte right there at that scrap yard you and I took an XJ carcass to before we towed my Van. The river was a bit ripe but the monster Carp made up for it. We should go soon.

LOL........ really? You should probably step into the bathroom, turn off all the lights and check the mirror to see if your hands or any other part of you glows....... that's a nasty stretch of river....... :puke:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Oh I know. I wore waders and nearly died yesterday with the heat. Today I just waded in with my bare flesh. I got A LOT of strange looks. I ran into a homeless guy under a bridge down near 8th Street and he was getting high. We chatted for a few minutes. Also landed a 24" Carp. What a scream.

It's a game on the Rocky Mountain Regional section of Advrider.com

A guy finds a cool spot (typically of historic value or at least of interest) and takes a picture if his bike there. Everyone else tries to figure out where it is and then take a pic of their bike at the same spot. First person to post up with the pic get credit for the "grab" and then has 36 hours to post another tag for everyone to go after.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

My buddy Jim let me take his HD out this afternoon to go to my doctor's appointment, he wanted me to get a taste of the big baggers plus obviously hope that the HD Kool-Aid would poison me.

I also used it to post up this tag

And then I went out and test rode this :D

I really like the big bagger, but the Kawi is cheap enough that I could keep my KTM and that Kool-Aid is way more potent. :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Dutch lemme know if you are serious about a HD. My girl sells em in the springs I can get you some contact info.
