Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Had a Grand Waggy and would do it again. For what they are, they are great vehicles.

But, I agree with getting one that is at least 25 years old so it qualifies for collector plates. Opens the door for anything to happen...

FYI - Hypoid's comment on '75 and older is correct for classic plates. Colorado ditched the rolling 25 year requirement a couple years ago.

And it's worth noting that Wagoneers are great vehicles and anyone who owns one is awesome.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Be hard pressed to pick up an XJ in the condition my XJ is in built like it is for less than about 10k unless the owner needed crack money fast...lol

more like lucky to get 10 grand for any built XJ!!!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

And only has 68k miles on it, poorly cut up, and with a half arsed cage?

wait, I've seen that somewhere... :anon:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

unit bearing in -- 37 minutes total, disassembly and reassembly... I'm betting that's better than forecasted shop time. Speedo is again fully functional as well!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Not to be CRUEL Chris, but I could've done it in 36 minutes. :D

What was the speedo fix?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Cruel PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC bastid! ;) Speedo was a bad ground -- I had it grounded to the cross-member, now grounded to the "frame".

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Fix your vibration issue?

Well, maybe a little bit -- it sure fixed the near death wobble. Thanks for the balance, Joe, but I'm thinking these MTR's are worn enough that I'm just going to have to deal with the vibes until new rubber is in the budget. Does Firestone carry all brands, or just certain ones? I'm thinking 285/75r17 Duratracs...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I can get whatever you want. Tell me what you want and I can get you a price. Might not be the best price out there but I will get you a price.

well you can't unload a rig sproting a light weight drivetrain ...the people today are looking for built 1-tons and 40-40+ tires ...if your trying to unload a rig on less than 1-tons and 40's...good luck...you will not get more than 5-6k for it most times since by todays standards it's not built ...And i see well built XJ's sell for around 10k very often ...not much more ,but yes 10k for built by todays standars on a rig that does not look like a rolling shyt missile will get more than 5-6 k ...So dana 44's high pinion 30's 8.8's...stock 9's ...you get my point on 35's is a 5k dollar rig , since maby don't see this as built today , and by the days standars it's not .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Not if its got 30k into it

not having a rig built to what is considered built for todays standards and has no straight sheet metal left on it will never bring more than 5k-ish ...44/9's , hp30/8.8 , And hp30/8.25 combos...or any mix of these on say 35's ...even 37's is not considered built for today ,but rather just run of the mill like a rig 10 years ago rolling on a hp30/8.25 on 31-33's ...today it's atleast built 1-tons and 40-40+ tires to be considered one of the built rigs ...it also helps to have doors that open/close with mostly straight sheet metal , and not something that looks like a cash for clunkers casualty ...also if still sporting leafs and shyt arms you are really going to have to give it away .

I was talking about something totally irrelevant to you. And there is a lot more to being built than axle and tire size. To be honest a lot of vehicle with tons under em with 40+ tires are built with no regard for clearance and drag just as much if not more than smaller axle smaller tire builds. How its executed, the goal of the rig, and a bunch of the overlooked parts make a big difference in being built to different people.
